Which works better with Josie?

As a sister
Connie
Or Romy

We were set on Connie, then Romy.
But I think Josie & Connie works better than Josie & Romy
Any thoughts?

But I dont like the nn potential of Connie (con) whereas I love Rome (nn for Romy)

I prefer Connie and Josie. Connie itself is an abbreviation of Constance usually. It wouldn't cross my mind to shorten it to Con.

MrsGsnow18 · 20/08/2016 16:18

I like both names. I think they both go with Josie. I marginally prefer Romy.
I wouldn't imagine Connie or Romy would get shortened.
Both are already quite short names that don't need NNs I think.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 20/08/2016 16:19

I agree with you, OP. Josie and Connie scans really well. Don't worry about 'Con', chances are she'll just be Connie, abs anyone who shortens it will be a friend Smile

Bigfam · 20/08/2016 16:25

It's not other people I'm worried about shortening it, it's me 😶
All my dc have 2 syllables and I bloody shorten them all to one! One of them being completely awful (worse than con)

I lengthen my DS' s one syllable names!! Just go with names you love; you can't legislate for everything Smile

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 20/08/2016 17:18

Id go with Connie.
Josie and Romy are too different. Josie is classy feminine stylish and IMHHO. Romy is chavvy.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 20/08/2016 17:21

Oh just seen you don't like Con. In that case aviod Connie. There was a Connie in my school she was Con, Jennys were Jen ect. ect.
Romy isn't the worse name in the world. I could reel off 100 more awful ones.

user1471501988 · 20/08/2016 21:57

I also prefer Connie, but Josie and Jennie has a nice ring to it.

BlueChampagne · 20/08/2016 23:06

Constance abbreviates to Coco too, which I like.

Sophronia · 21/08/2016 19:14

Connie

NorseFrench · 23/08/2016 22:02

Romy for me

babyblabber · 23/08/2016 22:56

Omg is Romy pronounced Rome-ee?! Have never heard of it except on MN and always thought it was like Ronnie but with an M. Mind blown.

ClockMakerSue · 23/08/2016 23:02

I prefer Connie both individually and with Josie. Romy and Josie don't fit together for me in style and yet sound too singsongy!

I also don't know any Connies which makes it appealing.

LOXY1 · 26/08/2016 21:13

How about Romily instead of Romy?

Goes nicely with Josie.

0pti0na1 · 26/08/2016 21:40

Connie. I don't like Romy, have no idea why though!

jobrum · 26/08/2016 21:43

Hi bigfam I remember you from the Jan15 thread! Connie is lovely, just something about it sounds nice. Like Romy but sounds like it could already be short for something. I'd hear it and winder what the full name is.
