First baby due in about 8 weeks and I now have a mental block over names. It's like I've said them too many times and now they don't even sound like names, more like weird noises Confused My husband and I don't agree on many names (his all have a 70s feel about them....) but we do have a small list that we kind of agree on. We don't know whether it's a boy or a girl and our surname is a three syllable name beginning with B. Any honest opinions would be great as both our sets of parents are lovely but we're just getting "it's your baby, please yourselves with the name" etc, etc.

Phoebe
Francesca
Imogen
Juliet
Claudia

Reuben
Felix (DH hates this one!)
James
George
Jude

So what's your first thought when you hear these names? Any help is very appreciated, I feel like I'm going mad......Blush

We considered Felix but it just reminded us of the cat on the advert. Also like Jude but my brother got there first! How about Arthur? Or Gabriel? If the ending of Juliet is a problem perhaps make it Julietta?

mycrane Hugo is my favourite boys name but we used it on the dog Blush Baby was a bit of a surprise after being adament I didn't want children Grin

Felix has only been left on the list because my DH just makes "hmm" noises about it but hasn't actually ruled it out completely.

Your comments are all really helpful, in my head I think I'm definitely swinging towards George or Phoebe. I just seems like such a huge responsibility naming a human! Grin

Phoebe - like a lot, it was hugely popular 10-15 years ago round here but I haven't heard it so much recently
Francesca - nice but I don't like Fran as a nickname; Frankie is pretty, though
Imogen - not keen, no real reason, I just don't like it
Juliet - love this name!
Claudia - also really like

Reuben - always looks misspelled to me
Felix - like
James - classic, inoffensive, a bit dull
George - love
Jude - love!

I like all of them except Imogen and Claudia.
