What do you think of it? Any similar names?
Leo is lion in Latin which I think is cool as its fierce yet sweet. Opinions?Smile

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I like it. It works at all ages. I also like the meaning too. We are having a girl, but our boys names list consisted of Leo and Theo (not a great deal of variety!)

marblestatue · 07/08/2016 13:14

I really like it.

iPost · 07/08/2016 13:16

I love it. If we had had another child it would have been Leo, if male.

It's pronounced differently here, lay-oh rather than lee-oh. But I like both.

228agreenend · 07/08/2016 13:19

Leo was on our list until Tony Blair named his child Leo (16 years ago). Didn't want a celebrity name. Still love the name, though.

TheViewFromTheSheepSeats · 07/08/2016 13:37

There's a Welsh variant - 'llew' which I think is lovely and far rarer.

Magazinepile · 07/08/2016 13:41

We already have a boy and a girl and dds name is shortened to 3 letters and 2 syllables like Leo and ds' name is 1 syllable but sometimes made into 2 so I think it would go nicely.

Any similar names anyone?Smile

Yes ipost that's what I didn't know too leeow or layow.

And oohh theview I like that. It's sweet and different plus dd's spelling is different to the norm. And ds' name isn't that common

Love. It was on our list.

Bear2014 · 07/08/2016 14:12

It's lovely but very very popular where we live (London) - there was at least one in every baby group and four in DD's nursery!

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 07/08/2016 14:23

Love it, hope to use it one day.

Madbengalmum · 07/08/2016 14:24

Like it.

sonlypuppyfat · 07/08/2016 14:30

Are you having a lion?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/08/2016 15:06

I like it. Leon has the same meaning and is equally easy to spell and pronounce. If you have a girl, you could call her Leonie.

Similar: Theo, Max, Felix, Ivo, Louis, Micah, Noah, Ethan, Jacob, Titus, Miles, Milo, Arlo.

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 07/08/2016 15:07

Love Leo and also Leon. Both are on my (very hypothetical) boy name list.

Jacobbay · 07/08/2016 17:29

It's an excellent name

BendydickCuminsnatch · 07/08/2016 17:48

Really like it! I also like Theo but think Leo is much more interesting and less widely used. Also I know a little girl Leo(nora) which I think is incredibly cool.

HerdsOfWilderbeest · 07/08/2016 17:48

Love it. Soft but strong. Perfect.

Zhabr · 07/08/2016 17:50

In my son's school year there are Leo,Leon and Leonardo.

DramaAlpaca · 07/08/2016 17:52

Good name, short & neat but strong.

RortyCrankle · 07/08/2016 18:05

Leo is a lovely name. Is your son going to be born in August so it matches his star sign?

Magazinepile · 08/08/2016 08:59

Thanks all! I think it's popular but it doesn't really matter as it's such a nice name. Really not the end of the world if he's called Leo H to differentiate him from the other leo(s)Smile

I like it. I don't know any other Leos.
I don't like the suggestion of Leon however because of the car Seat Leon. Quite a popular car nowadays and I just wouldn't want to be named the same as a car model.

Mummamayhem · 08/08/2016 09:06

I really like it but it's out for us as surname starts with an L and doesn't sound right.

Magazinepile · 08/08/2016 09:11

Our surname is a fairly popular one beginning with H and the other two DC have fairly unpopular names I mean they're popular but you don't meet loads everyday. Just worried that Leo is too ordinary with our surname... They don't have middle names

Just seen this. Love the name Leo. I live in a 'nappy valley' area of London. Babies everywhere. I've met at least 3 of every name at nursery, school and baby groups and funnily enough the only Leo I know is mine!
