Ethan - modern or classic?

DP is really keen on the name Ethan. I'm not convinced (but can't come up with any other options - seriously, I like nothing!) but do like the meaning of 'strength'. Does Ethan sound like a modern, could get dated, name or would you know it's biblical?

It's a nice name. It's but kai or jaxon modern but it's not classic either. We liked Evan bit when he arrived he just didn't suit it!

Boring. I think it's one of those names that makes me think a parent couldn't be bothered to have a proper think about names

We have a 4yo Ethan. I wasn't aware at the time it was popular then discovered it was. Having said that we have no other friends with Ethans but know lots of Benjamins, Matthews, tobys, jacobs, two Ezras, so it doesn't seem very popular around here

Evan and Nathan could be alternatives?

I wouldn't really let a names popularity put you off if you really love it. At the most he might have a few other people with the same name at school but that's fairly normal.

All pronounced "Ee-ffun" by kids (and at least half of the parents)

Yes I am in an area where it is pronounced correctly at least by adults depends where you live I guess
It's a bit like Arthur and Seth which get Arfur and Sef by young children
