But dh doesn't. Can anyone suggest anything else I might like?

We have first name sorted, and had it picked out fairly early on. I'm 37 weeks pregnant with our first ds, there's no family names we want to use.

Thanks in advance. Smile

Rowan, Samuel, Fabian?

SpecialStains · 31/07/2016 20:51

Penelope We've picked Samuel as the first name (you have good taste in names!).

I very much liked Rowan, but DH doesn't like it. Fabian is nice, but isn't quite the one.

Aaah Samuel is a lovely name. Few other ideas...

Samuel Marcus
Samuel Lucas
Samuel Douglas
Samuel Rory
Samuel Aspen
Samuel Glenn

Or Samuel Lyndon?

I don't usually comment on these but Francis is such a beautiful name.

Ask dh to reconsider or ltb Grin

Thanks for all those suggestions, Penelope. I've written them down for dh to have a think about.

Brexit I love Francis so much, I'm considering just going and registering baby's name without DH there... That's not too unreasonable right?!

He's just suggested the name Ulysses. Neither of us have even read the book. Confused

Ulysses (in the Greek version) is a pretty impressive chap. If you've a moment, have a look at a translation of The Odyssey. I find it absolutely fascinating. For a quick summary, illustrated book versions for are available, such as this (others are available) www.amazon.com/Odyssey-Barrons-Graphic-Classics-Paperback/dp/0764142763

On the other hand, Francis is also a great name. After all, St Francis was one of the world's first eco-warriors (in his own way)...

I like Francis and Robin for first names!
How about Samuel Christopher?

TheCraicDealer · 01/08/2016 21:26

One of my best mates is called Francis (27). He is cool AF, and so I think it's a great name, obvs. I'd probably just wait until the baby is born, point at him and say, "that came out of me" and just make it very clear that the least he could do is let you pick what is a very nice middle name for your troubles.

SpecialStains · 09/08/2016 17:50

You're all very good at picking names I like.

Words I like the name Christopher (considered it as a first name) but it's FILs name, and WW3 will break out on my side of the family if I used it, which is why I'm not using any family names. If I had my own way, Francis would be the first name, but really couldn't convince DH.

He's suggested Condor as an alternative to Robin. Seriously considering LTB!

TheCraicDealer I think I will take your advice and just tell him the baby's name once it's out!

Haha to Condor!!
I actually love Robin! Also think Rowan is lovely.
What about Connor? Seems more reasonable than Condor! ( apologies to anyone who has used as a name, I just see condom when I look at it)

unicornthong · 10/08/2016 12:03

Samuel Henry
Samuel Alexander
Samuel Frederick
Samuel Patrick

That said, who even uses middle names in daily life? Francis and Robin are lovely names, I would say try and batter your DH down!
