Running out of time... Help with boys names

LotsOfDots · 24/07/2016 18:55

DC3 is due imminently and we are struggling to find any boys names that we love. If it's a girl we are sorted, if it's a boy poor thing might be nameless at this rate. First 2 are girls so never actually had to name a boy so far...

We like Arthur, but DH says he fancies something with a bit more impact, though of the same genre. I think he wants something more unusual, but he's likely to vault at anything to way out!
My favourite boys name is Thomas, but can't use it.

Ideas please!

Ernest
Eric
Stanley
Wilfred

Is that the kind of genre your looking for?

LotsOfDots · 24/07/2016 20:54

Yes, that's along the right lines, but DH has vetoed Stanley, which I like Eric and Wilfred I'm not so keen on.

Quite like Ernest, Edmund, Toby (but DH doesn't like Toby)

Love Ernest and Edmund and hardly know any. I also love Eric actually (think your husband was keen on that, but you not so much. Why not?Maybe I'm biased as I know a particularly cute little Eric!)
And second other people's suggestion of Patrick and Wilfred.

LotsOfDots · 26/07/2016 23:09

No, Eric isn't a goer for either of us I don't think. Wilfred is also out as we already have a Freddie in our close family.

For all he says he wants something with impact, I don't think DH actually will follow through with it - he baulks at some of the more unusual names!

I think we are currently down to Arthur, Edmund, maybe Ernest...

Theo? Although I have one. And an Arthur. And a Toby! So I'm very biased. You should ignore me (but use them all!!)

wobblywonderwoman · 26/07/2016 23:16

Henry
Edward
Oliver

But Arthur is lovely

DelphiniumBlue · 26/07/2016 23:21

Theo, Kit, Edward ( Teddy) were all suggested on another thread a few days ago. I like all of them!

LotsOfDots · 27/07/2016 14:02

Can't use Theo, a friend had one recently and they will be in the same class at school!

I like Toby, but for some reason DH feels the need to repeat in a silly voice every time I suggest it. Hmm

I like Edward and so does DD1 but DH not convinced- he needs to actually suggest some alternatives doesn't he!

At the moment We are still leaning towards Arthur - need a middle name too, would it be super naff to have an R middle name when surname begins with T, thus giving initials of ART?

Arthur was my first choice but I wasn't allowed it. Got to name my DD though GrinMy DF and GF had this name as middle names too. I like:
James
Atticus (until every man and his dog used it)
William
Archie
Noah
