Baby girl names - help

Dh and I are struggling to come up with names we both like ( I'm 38 weeks) He likes Elizabeth and Emily but I want something a bit more unusual as our DS has a very traditional top 10 name.

I was thinking of Emmeline as not dissimilar to Emily but more unusual - what do people think of this as a name?

I also like Isla but I've met about 6 recently.

I'm finding it so hard as so many lovely girls names that I like but nothing that's really standing out

Any ideas appreciated!

What about Emma?

Lovely name and not often heard these days

caju · 14/07/2016 17:43

Ellie
Ella
Esme

Emmeline was on our medium-list - we discounted it as it doesn't go well with our surname, and I wasn't super keen on the nn of 'Emmy'.

We would have chosen Eleanor (good strong girl's name, like Roosevelt and 'of Aquitaine) if we didn't have a close family member with that name.

If it helps, our current shortlist is: Elizabeth, Alice, Rosa and Clara.

We don't think any of those are quite right, but we like all of them (and hope we'll know what her name should be when we meet her).

Emmeline is lovely. Also think Emma is nice and not used much these days.
I like Isla too but I know of 4 who have been born in the last 3 years so think it is becoming more popular.

Sophronia · 14/07/2016 18:48

Love Emmeline.

ChipAndDale · 14/07/2016 19:44

Emmeline is beautiful.

SunglassesPink · 17/07/2016 04:29

I think Emma would be perfect! Not top 10, but a lovely, simple classic.

shalalala · 17/07/2016 05:12

Eleanor?

Rosaaa · 17/07/2016 13:34

I like Emmeline but prefer Emily.
How about Mills or Evelyn? Elise?

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 17/07/2016 13:48

I really like Emmeline too. I also love Emma, though it could be a nn for Emmeline. I guess the only thing with Emmeline is that people might mistake it for Emily? It's not exactly a problem, but it just might be a wee bit annoying having to correct people. I guess you would just make sure you/she really pronounce the n when introducing her/self.

CourtJester · 18/07/2016 13:12

I love Emmeline! One of my favourites!

Also like Emmy, Erin, Elise and Eliza :)
