Or is it not short for anything and a name in its own right?

Many thank!

Henry

But it's a name in its own right now too

Daisydukes79 · 05/07/2016 20:23

Harry, which is a NN for Henry

poocatcherchampion · 05/07/2016 20:39

Halitosis :)

OhThatThingAgain · 05/07/2016 20:42

Henry, as in Shakespeare, Henry IV, 1 & 2. Prince Hal was a referred to several times by Falstaff.

Or HAL, the evil computer in 2001 ASO. Middle name should be Dave Grin

VoldysGoneMouldy · 05/07/2016 21:02

Henry, traditionally. Imagine it's used for endless things now.

Sophronia · 05/07/2016 21:03

Henry, traditionally. It could also be short for Hallam.

Imps9 · 05/07/2016 21:42

I wondered if it might be Harold, wouldn't have guessed Henry. I quite like Hal but not as a name in its own right.

Henry. Harry. Hal.

Nospringflower · 05/07/2016 21:48

We have a Hal and it's his own name, named after someone with Hal as a middle name.

MitzyLeFrouf · 06/07/2016 19:47

Hallam

Purplerunner · 06/07/2016 19:49

The Hal I know of is short for Haldon.

EmmaWoodlouse · 06/07/2016 20:02

Traditionally Henry but I think sometimes Harold in America.

Pipilangstrumpf · 07/07/2016 06:54

Halford?

BertrandRussell · 07/07/2016 06:55

Henry

P1nkP0ppy · 07/07/2016 07:01

Henry - Henry VIII was aka 'Good King Hal'

RedLarvaYellowLarva · 09/07/2016 23:07

Halcyon!

MumOnACornishFarm · 09/07/2016 23:13

I know a Hallam who is called Hal for short. I had never come across it before him.

WaverleyOwl · 09/07/2016 23:17

I name my DS2 Henry, with Hal as a nickname. So far, Henry has suited him, but i might pull out Hal later when I'm feeling either Shakespearian or Kubickian.
