A Week Old... Help!

Our son is a week old. I really wanted us to have a name ready, but we can't seem to agree. He hates all the names that I love Sad

I like (in order):
Noah (if it was my choice, he would be named this!)
Isaac
Reuben
Matthew

He likes (in order):
Hunter (if it was his choice, he would be named this!)
Oakley
Greyson
River

I honestly don't know why he likes names that are 'out there'! He wants him to be 'cool' and is making out like this is a big old joke!

I said that I'd be happy for Grey to be his middle name (I quite like that) but he still didn't want one of my names to be the 1st name. We came up with a new list, which is okay, but neither of us love the names... It's (in order):

Dylan
William (Billy)
Kieran
Ethan
Aidan

Whichever name you choose, OP, he is adorable Smile

fanniboz · 25/06/2016 18:30

He looks like a Matthew to me. Congrats OP, he's beautiful! Flowers

lemonjellytrifle · 26/06/2016 20:17

Love Alex, Billy and Matthew!

Jessbow · 26/06/2016 20:31

I keep saying it... Jethro!

Jed for short

Timothy (Tim)

First post on this topic! Wow, what a busy one it is...

I love Elliott and he looks like one!

libellule1 · 26/06/2016 20:46

Levi, Josiah (Jos), Nathaniel (Nate), Harley?

RedLarvaYellowLarva · 26/06/2016 21:49

I much prefer your husband's list. Yours are very top ten and biblical. His are cool.
How about something from this list as a compromise: [[http://nameberry.com/blog/unusual-boys-names-12-fresh-biblical-choices]
or

I have a Bill(y) (really William) who is 11 and dances. Nobody has ever made any connection with Billy Elliott. The stage show is on tour now and will probably close after that. By the time your son is at school kids won't even have heard of Billy Elliott. Don't worry! By the way I think all your names are far nicer than your husband's, which are hipster-trying-too-hard American names!

septembersunshine · 27/06/2016 19:20

You might have decided by now OP but I think he looks like an Aidan :) After that William is lovely too. Beautiful boy op!

leoniethelioness · 27/06/2016 19:59

Jared

Goingtobeawesome · 27/06/2016 20:02

He looks like a Reuben.

user1459464195 · 27/06/2016 20:41

Seconding the idea of a biblical name and more unusual/"cool" nickname.

Jared - Jed
Asher - Ash
Malachi - Kai
Jonah - Joe
Christopher - Kit
Dominic - Nico
Felix - Flea
Jacob - Jake

Raines100 · 27/06/2016 21:45

Congratulations on your little bundle of snuggly gorgeousness! What a poppet he looks.

I think you should call him Lennon because he's a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy Wink

DeltaSunrise · 27/06/2016 21:53

I really like your dh 's list.

Hunter and Oakley are both great names but seeing your gorgeous sons photo, I would say he looks like a Matthew.

Matthew Hunter or even Matthew Greyson would be nice.

I really love Lennon though. You should totally go for that.

Not helping am I?

TheImprobableGirl · 27/06/2016 22:01

Flea?!

What about Eli? Biblical and a little out there. I'd probably avoid Ham....

Maybe Sylvan, Logan, Loxley, all a bit out there. Max, Milo, Myles?

MitzyLeFrouf · 27/06/2016 23:15

That gorgeous boy is not a Flea! Grin

I like both Dylan and Elliot. They're a good mid-ground between your traditional tastes and your partner's Americana taste.

Enkopkaffetak · 27/06/2016 23:20

I think you and dh have to go back to the drawing board and research more names.

IMO it doesnt matter you prefer Noah and he prefers Hunter. if the other doesn't like those names you keep going until you have got a name you both like.

I agree that Eli may be a good one for you to consider

Niles
Fraser
Conrad
Horatio
Jeddidiah
Carradoc
Ralph
Bruce
Frank
Maurice

I am trying to think traditional but unusual if that makes sense. I suspect that will be your crossover.

Personally I prefer your dh's list but really that makes no difference to anything as like I said to begin with. it is more about what you both like and agree on jointly

nectarini1983 · 28/06/2016 09:52

I like Noah the best from your lists. Why not go with Noah Hunter Surname?

nectarini1983 · 28/06/2016 09:52

I also love the name Zac too.

Elizabeth09 · 29/06/2016 23:03

He's so beautiful. He looks like a Matthew to me. Matthew River or even Matthew Hunter would be a nice name. :)

I do like William (Billy) too and wouldn't be too worried about the middle name being Elliot.
