Florence or Clara? A sibling for Beatrice

Pinkandwhite · 24/06/2016 17:45

We are finding it difficult to choose a name for our second baby (another girl). We have a Beatrice so we need a name that goes with that. We like Florence and Clara so it would be great to know which you prefer and also if you can think of any other names that go well with Beatrice. Thanks

Florence for me. I love it and it goes well with Beatrice.

Clara is lovely but I don't think it fits as well.

How about:
Annabel
Charlotte
Ruth
Ruby
Julia
Emilia

Florence is the best by far though imo

PragmaticWench · 24/06/2016 20:00

See I would say Clara as it's equally as unusual, whereas Florence is much more commonly used. I also love Annabel...

1horatio · 24/06/2016 20:14

Clara. Florence is just too popular...
But I agree with the people that suggested Annabelle. That's also lovely! :)

HollyBollyBooBoo · 24/06/2016 20:31

Florence is waaay too popular right now, not loving Clara, sounds like a harsh word if that makes sense?!

Scoopmuckdizzy · 24/06/2016 20:35

I love the name Clara! It's beautiful and rarely used.

Pinkandwhite · 24/06/2016 20:55

Thanks for the replies. I love Annabel but DH is not as keen. It's interesting to know what people think about Florence versus Clara.

I like both but would say Clara as its less used.
I know a Beatrice whose sibling is Olivia.
I suggest Claudia, Elizabeth, Rebecca and Evangeline.

venys · 24/06/2016 21:19

I like Clara.

DramaAlpaca · 24/06/2016 21:30

I think Florence goes better with Beatrice.

I've met lots of Claras, but no Florences, so I don't think of Florence as being popular. Maybe it depends on where you live.

Other suggestions are Helena, Rosalind or Cressida.

Pinkandwhite · 26/06/2016 01:54

Thanks everyone. Some really good suggestions. I have no idea what we'll go for!

I like Clara better.

Florence only has naff nicknames, too (Florrie and Flo?)

soundsystem · 26/06/2016 13:03

I love Clara and I think it goes with Beatrice (I can't really explain why though).

I'm not overly keen on Florence due to nickname potential (I know one who is called Flossie!)

Btw, what about Flora? I feel like it has some of the simplicity of Clara, it obviously has a connection to Florence but isn't that popular.

And Flora MacDonald is a really cool namesake (DH was actually not happy at all when he realised that we couldn't use the name Flora...)

areyoubeingserviced · 26/06/2016 13:13

Clara

MyNewBearTotoro · 26/06/2016 13:18

Clara is lovely and I think it goes beautifully with Beatrice.

pilates · 26/06/2016 13:40

Clara is lovely, not keen on Florence.

How about Lydia?

Scarydinosaurs · 26/06/2016 13:52

Clara- I LOVE Clara!

hippiedays · 26/06/2016 15:01

Clara. It is so elegant.

I don't think Florence is nice - it is neither pretty or elegant. It is just long(ish).

Pinkandwhite · 28/06/2016 03:12

Thanks again for the replies. So helpful! I'm surprised by people's views on Florence. I'm glad I asked!

Lydia is a great suggestion.

Oh yes, Lydia is also gorgeous. Either Clara or Lydia with Beatrice would be divine!

handonhip · 28/06/2016 07:38

Clara here.

Youranus · 28/06/2016 10:25

Love Beatrice and Josephine.

delilabell · 28/06/2016 11:54

I'm biased as my 6week old is called Clara :-) but it is a beautiful name.
