Apparently it's more common as a boys name, but there were only three baby boys given the name in 2013.

I know it's a place. Is it weird? (I'm not really sure why I like it) but I really do.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I live right next to it. So I really wouldn't. It's not terrible just a bit blah. Sorry!

BettyDraper1 · 22/06/2016 20:28

Makes me think of that painting of maddening neverending staircases, think the artist was Escher? I would google but i'm on my awkward-as-arse phone.

Wanderingraspberry · 22/06/2016 20:30

Nooo, it's a place in Surrey!

Wolfiefan · 22/06/2016 20:31

Esther?

fairgroundsnack · 22/06/2016 20:31

Yep, station between Hersham and Surbiton on the mainline into Waterloo! Weird.

CourtJester · 24/06/2016 13:35

Never heard of it...so neither gender?

When i first read it, i thought it said Esther.

I like Aster, which is similar?

forkhandles4candles · 24/06/2016 13:38

Aisha?

MsKite · 24/06/2016 13:40

It's a place isn't it? Not keen. I live quite near an Ashton though and people are called that, so...

2ManySweets · 24/06/2016 13:42

Don't name your child after a dull as shite commuter town

What about Esther? Aster? Astrid?

Or at a stretch, Guildford? Grin

idontlikealdi · 24/06/2016 13:43

Looks like Esther misspelt

crabb · 24/06/2016 13:43

I know of an Eshton (boy).

ijustwannadance · 24/06/2016 13:47

Were you a fan of the tv series Continuum?
Only place I have ever heard it.

JaneAustinAllegro · 24/06/2016 13:47

It's hebrew, no? YOu'll get everyone pronouncing it as the Surrey footballer friendly town, and not Esh - er.
I guess it's better than Oxted.

BertrandRussell · 24/06/2016 13:49

Ds has a friend called Escher. And we know an Asher.

But Esher is a not very nice town.

DetestableHerytike · 24/06/2016 22:47

What about Ashley? That can be boy or girl.

Littlegoat123 · 24/06/2016 22:49

My daughter is Esther and she is 6, and I get lovely comments about her name...I think esher will be too easily confused with Esther ...not good if you have a boy he will not thank you for it

CanadaMoose · 24/06/2016 23:38

There are two Eshers at the nursery I teach in, both girls.

DetestableHerytike · 25/06/2016 05:50

Ah yes, I've met an Esha (girl)

Bigfam · 25/06/2016 06:38

DetestableHerytike didn't think of spelling it that way, seems obvious now, that's got to be the easiest way to pronounce it right.

ScoutandAtticus · 25/06/2016 06:42

As long as you don't live near the town.

Zhabr · 25/06/2016 19:23
