Angus, Patrick or Rowan?

Hello,
We have just found out that we are having another boy. We had lots of nice ideas for girls' names but are really struggling with boys' names. This happened with our little boy as well but we did find a name for him that we love that really suits him (Hamish.)
My hubby really likes Angus and I'm not keen on any of his others as they are a bit out there. This is definitely my favourite of his ideas.
We also like Rowan as we love the great outdoors and like nature inspired names, but Robin has been bagged by a close friend of ours.
I also like Patrick, but am not sure about this for a baby's name. It was my late father's name.
What are your thoughts on those names for a wee baby boy?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sounds niche! I'm there. See you in Termonfeckin!

I like the nns Gus or Paddy so would choose Angus or Patrick with those as nn.

I like Rowan but more for a girl.

What about Fergus?

iloveberries · 07/06/2016 16:25

Patrick

mumofthemonsters808 · 07/06/2016 16:30

I like Rowan, I'm not kean on the others.

MumOnACornishFarm · 07/06/2016 18:05

Rowan is a bit wet? What a strange comment Confused

I like all your names but love Rowan the most, but then I'm biased. We have a Rowan and he is gorgeous, fiesty, and definately his own little person. Not wet in the slightest Smile And I don't know any other Rowan's apart from him, girl or boy.
Congratulations on your news, OP.

Angus is cool! My friend's son is called Angus but now goes by Gus - it really suits him.

cecilelliott · 07/06/2016 20:17

Love them all! (sorry, not v helpful!). Think Angus marginally my favourite.

What about Archie? I know it's got very popular recently, but it sounds great with Hamish! Someone I know of called there boy Gus, not short for anything and that's rather cute!

Patrick is a fine name iMO and Pat as a diminutive is also lovely. Hate the name Paddy though.
Don't like the other names, sorry!

CreepingDogFart · 07/06/2016 22:04

None of them sorry. If I had to choose I would pick Patrick.

YellowPirate · 07/06/2016 22:14

I have a Patrick and I'm so pleased we chose it. We usually call him Patrick, but he gets Patch, Patchy and occasionally Paddy too. I love it and we're struggling to find one as nice for no. 2!

Big thanks to all for your helpful advice and comments, some of which make me chuckle. It's a close call... x

What will you go for?

Flanderspigeonmurderer · 10/06/2016 20:22

I have a Patrick and I also love the name Rowan, I would pick that if we have another boy.

Shanster · 11/06/2016 03:03

I love all 3 names (especially Angus), but can't get my DH to consider any of these for DS3. I'm leaning towards Ronan as a compromise, though I really wanted a Scottish name. We live in the US, nobody here has heard of Ronan Keating :)

KnitFastDieWarm · 11/06/2016 09:37

Angus - I love it! but I like all three names (unhelpful!)

DoItTooJulia · 11/06/2016 09:38

Love Angus (Gus) and Rowan. Patrick is a bit meh for me.

Congratulations!

Trills · 11/06/2016 09:47

Patrick.
