Dh and I are having a baby girl in October. Boys names were easy - we had 3 we agreed on, girls however a pretty hard!

I love
Everly, Edie and Tallulah. (Edie my absolute fave!)
He loves Lana.
We both like Thea.

Thea is the name of someone we both know - not a best friend, but an old work colleague and now friend.
Is it weird to name a baby, despite having a friend with that name. She won't be named after her per sé but will people think it's odd?

I love all your girls names, we have picked Edie for DC3 if it's a girl..,however no idea on boys names! What have you picked for a boy? Our taste in names seem similar!

NeedACleverNN · 06/06/2016 11:17

I like Edie

Prefer Edith but like Edie. I don't like Tallulah or Everly. I do like Tula though

Hate Lana and Thea.

Bettercallsaul1 · 06/06/2016 11:20

Wouldn't Everly be more suitable for brothers?

LolaStarr · 06/06/2016 11:22

Edie, Lana and Thea are lovely. Lana is my favourite

Joinourclub · 06/06/2016 11:22

I love Edie. Very nearly chose it myself, it would have been short for Edith, but you could also have it short for Eden or Meredith.

Mrsfancyfanjango · 06/06/2016 11:24

One of our dd's is theodora - intended to have the nn thea, however we don't tend to shorten it now!

Could that be an option?
From your list Edie is my favourite

AddictedToCoYo · 06/06/2016 11:25

I love Lana but Edie is lovely too.

ABitAsleep · 06/06/2016 11:33

I love Edie! (Hate Edith!) and like Everly too, it's different enough without being weird.

Other ones you might like...

Tatiana
Tamara
Tora
Torla
Tee
Elena
Elora
Emme/Emmie/Emmy
Elise

Sophronia · 06/06/2016 12:01

I like Tallulah.

Mottled · 06/06/2016 12:07

Like Lana and Thea. How about Talia?

candykane25 · 06/06/2016 12:11

No it's it off to name a baby with the same name as a mutual friend. I am sure friend would be delighted to have another Thea around. How are you pronouncing it? I know a Thee-a and a Taya both named Thea.
There's also Dorothea and Theodora.
Of the other names I love Lana. How about Lara?

candykane25 · 06/06/2016 12:37

Ok not off!

marblestatue · 06/06/2016 14:47

I like Edie, then Tallulah.

manicinsomniac · 06/06/2016 15:32

I love all of them except Tallulah, which I'm not keen on. For Edie, I would use Edith as a full name.

My favourite is probably Everly.

I don't think it would be weird to Thea.

But, if you don't want to, how about Tia, Taryn, Tegan, Tara, Tamara, Thalia, Theresa or Tanya?

Buggers · 06/06/2016 15:36

I have a Tallulah! Grin I'm not keen on the other names though sorry

Hurricane99 · 06/06/2016 16:31

Wasn't there that child called Talula Does the Hula from Hawaii? I also recently heard of a Tallulah Princess Tinkerbell

misses the point of the thread

Seekingmiracles · 06/06/2016 18:55

The reason I can't use Lana candy is that my name is LARA! Dh doesn't see what the issue is.
My cousin called her daughter the same name as a friend of ours and I always thought it was weird.... So massively hypocritical if I use it now! But Thea is the ONLY name we can agree onHmm

Lara is a lovely name, you are very lucky.
Thea is literally adorable. We take inspiration from all places and if it resonates with you, go for it.

Paddingtonthebear · 06/06/2016 20:23

Lana is lovely. It was my second choice and sometimes I wish we had gone with it. As we chose an E name (4 letters) which is lovely, not often heard and we still haven't met another kid with the name. But. For her age group names starting with E are mega popular and I didn't realise that. There are many similar sounding names to hers and it just puts me off slightly. I love Lana. My DD's name is not dissimilar to it TBH.

I also love Penelope but I don't like nicknames / shortened names so that counted that out.

nectarini1983 · 06/06/2016 23:25

Edie is bland and a 'nothing' type name imo. I prefer Lana, Thea, Tia, Talia as suggested above.

Tallulah is okay...quite flouncy but at least it's not boring.
