Jordanna??

So, while we're still debating our potential girls name (we waited until the last minute to name Martha, and we'd prefer not to this time, so trying to find a few favourites before we ttc), DH brought up the idea of naming a girl Jordan(ne), after someone he was close to. I'm not keen on it but he suggested Jordanna too.

Thoughts on Jordanna?? Is it too unusual? Too 'unique'? Should we spell it as Jordana instead?

If we use it, we'd probably use Jordanna Kate, Jordanna Eve, or Jordanna Grace (Big sister is Martha Rose).

Jordana is an anglicised version of the Hebrew name Yardena.

Yardena is lovely. I much prefer that to Jordana!

Northernlurker · 28/05/2016 14:36

No op, just no. It's not good

gingerboy1912 · 28/05/2016 14:53

Sounds like a silly made up name. Sorry.

manicinsomniac · 28/05/2016 20:08

I quite like it.

I know a female Jordan whose just turned 16 and I've never associated her with Katie Price until now.

I think the n or nn thing is really important because, in my head anyway, it changes the pronunciation.
Jordana = Jaw-darr-na (like Juliana and Ariana)
Jordanna = Jaw-dan-a (like Savannah and Anna)

It's such a different name from Martha. Martha is lovely.

ApocalypseSlough · 29/05/2016 10:00

It's more Duggar than pornstar imo.
Martha is lovely- as are Jessica, Justine and Johanna if you want to stick with J!

One of my best friends is called Jordana, she's a very classy lady and no one would ever think porn star where she is concerned. To be honest, I knew of her before we became friends and 'porn star' never crossed my mind even though i'd never heard the name before!! Like always, your baby will make the name her own and it's a lovely, unusual name, i'd go for it if you like it.

Jordan(n)a is cute in a slightly clunky way....

Jordanna Katherine (not Kate!) sounds very sensible imo :)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/05/2016 10:47

Reminds me of a 19 Kids and Counting name tbh.

LadyAntonella · 29/05/2016 15:12

I went to school with a Jordanna (not sure how she spelt it) in the 80s, so I wouldn't think it sounds made up.

That said I don't really like it very much.

Oysterbabe · 29/05/2016 16:10

Sorry I think it's horrible.

eyebrowsonfleek · 29/05/2016 16:53

Don't use Kate with Jordana. People will assume you're Katie Price fans.

Jordana is fine as a name but really doesn't go with Martha because the styles are just so different. Juliana or Ana/Anna fit much better with Martha.

TheCladdagh · 29/05/2016 17:36

Jordana is much nicer than Jordanna.

BeckyWithTheMediocreHair · 29/05/2016 19:13

Given the etymology of Jordan(a), how about middle name River?

I agree with PP that it sounds odd with Martha.
