My niece is an Astrid. Love it.

Ava. A friend of a friend at school was called Astrid and (inwardly) I always thought it sounded a bit like turgid.

Ava is just soo popular.
Astrid is lovely!! Please use it:) I can't because my husband went to school with an Astrid that was called... a very unfortunate Thing, so he vetoed it... Sad

Astrid. Fab.

So very tired of Ava.

HouseOfBiscuits · 29/05/2016 09:51

Astrid sounds a bit negative to me. I think it's the "rid", as in get rid.

WyldeGharlique · 29/05/2016 09:54

Adore Astrid but worth knowing that it is supposed to be pronounced Astree (in Norway, anyway) - the d is silent. This put me off using it for some reason, I guess just feeling that I would be always saying it incorrectly

HouseOfBiscuits · 29/05/2016 09:56

I think the name is much nicer in any of several Scandinavian accents.

Astrid

Astrid is so lovely.

Love love love Astrid. This is on my list Smile It is a strong, independent sounding name to my mind, and much more memorable than Ava.
