Boys names shortlist

Bobbycatz · 24/05/2016 13:33

I was hoping for your opinion on our boys names. I generally like traditional names as we have an unusual surname which is always mispronounced and is fairly long. We're team yellow but if it’s a girl she’s likely to be called Erin or Olivia.

A lot of the names that I initially liked were thrown out by DH as he has friends with the names etc so this is my revised shortlist with names that he doesn’t hate…

Adam
Henry
Jacob
Zachary

Thoughts?

I love jacob, I like Henry but the name always reminds me of a dog or the Hoover Grin

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 24/05/2016 13:40

I only like Adam. It's a bit more different than the others. You know hear of many Adams these days.
I'm sick to the back teeth of the other names. I'm tripping over little Henrys, Jabobs and Zacharys. In another 5 years they'll be the only names in the class. However you may not.give a hoot about popularity.

DramaAlpaca · 24/05/2016 13:40

I like them all, but I think my favourites are Adam & Jacob.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 24/05/2016 13:46

I like Adam and quite like Zachary.,

RiverTam · 24/05/2016 13:48

Jacob. Though I hate Jake, and it's a bit Twilight, so maybe not...

squoosh · 24/05/2016 14:13

Adam.

Adult Adams are always really handsome

BlueChampagne · 24/05/2016 14:17

Adam here too.

BoboBunnyH0p · 24/05/2016 14:22

Adam or zachary, both are not often heard. Sick to death of hearing Jacob.

RainbowsAndUnicorns5 · 24/05/2016 14:28

Zachary
or Alex?

notagiraffe · 24/05/2016 14:33

Only Zachary.
Not keen on Adam - popular round here. Ditto Jacob, which I was always told means cheat so put off it from childhood. Henry's OK.

thebestfurchinchilla · 24/05/2016 14:52

Henry

green18 · 24/05/2016 14:53

I work in primary schools. Jacob and Zachary/Zac are really common at the moment.

Pipilangstrumpf · 24/05/2016 15:04

Agree that Adam is the nicest.

The others are all pretty dull and overused.

Bobbycatz · 24/05/2016 18:14

Ummm interesting, from the comments I'm leaning more towards Henry and Adam, didn't realise how popular Zachary and Jacob were.

rainbows I like Alex but it's the name of a friend of ours.

squoosh lol I'm sold!

I know 3 Zacs but not a single Jacob. There are big regional differences in name popularity.

septembersunshine · 24/05/2016 19:23

I always think Henry is a bit wet and weak sounding. Prefer Harry. But overall I think Zachary and Adam are really good from your list.

cecilelliott · 24/05/2016 20:11

Henry is a good solid name, and the most classic of the list I think. I hear Zachary a lot, Adam hardly at all, and , surprisingly, only know a few small Jacobs.

Mottled · 25/05/2016 00:26

I would have said that Adam is a tally the most popular, I know the more of them that the others but they are spread across a wide range of ages. I don't know any adult Zacharys but one child one (5). I like all of the names but Henry would be my least favourite.

julfin · 25/05/2016 01:26

Ha ha Squoosh!

I like, in order:
Zachary
Jacob (both of which are on my own List)
Henry
Adam

Sophronia · 25/05/2016 05:48

Adam

I know one Adam and he is a wonderful little boy. I think that has a big influence.

captainfarrell · 26/05/2016 15:33

Loads of Jacobs in primary schools right now.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 26/05/2016 17:42

I know 4 baby Henry's under a year, and I don't know many babies, if that matters to you.
Is definitely pick Jacob! Love the sound and for my taste Adam is a bit dull and Zachary too popular.

NotYoda · 26/05/2016 18:03

I don't like Zachary

Of the others, my favourite is Adam, with Jacob second
