Expecting DC3 any day now - have two boys already so, while we are sure this will be another DS (and have a boy's name already), we are still discussing girls' names.

We like 'Mabel' but DH family say it's frumpy and dated. On the other hand, our friends mostly say it's lovely.

I am not from an English speaking country so I have no associations at all - just love the 'feel' of it.

I'd love to know what you all think!

Mothers Always Bring Extra Live

Is what I think of ... From a film - I love it, there's a writer in the papers who talks about her daughter Mabel and she's very funny.

I think the Rev Richard Cole had a daschund who had a puppy they called Mabel so that's my association.

My friend has recently called her daughter this and I'm struggled to keep a straight face when she told me as my initial reaction was just eurgh. However it's since really grown on me so much I would consider it for my own daughter (but wouldn't as seems a bit copycat).

I love Mabel. It's not dated at all, it would be very fashionable where we live, but not over done. Similar to Martha which is also pretty imo. Having said that we have a Margot which gets similar mixed responses. I say go for it!

It sounds like a joke name. Sorry.
