izzy.... short for?

We already have a Theodore, known as Teddy. We have a short list of boys names but no girls names for #2 due shortly...,. Help!

I love izzy. But what is it short for and is it just used too often these days?!

What do you think? (& yes DH family are Welsh, hence a Welsh name slipping in)

I don't understand how you get Izzie from Ceridwen? (which is a gorgeous name, btw!)

Never heard of Ceridwen either but someone else told me they knew of an izzie whose name was that. (Strange but true!!)

Isolde is gorgeous. It's Celtic but not specifically Welsh, however - the Welsh form is Esllyt. Depends how important the Welshness is to you.

Ceridwen was an enchantress in Welsh legend. Lush make a rather nice bath bomb called Ceridwen's Cauldron!

Most of these names are v popular. Is that what you want? Theodora and Izzy is, as another poster said, done to death here. That is okay if fine by you but by the sound of your suggestions you would like something different softened by a ditsy nn...perhaps so she might grow into her name?

LOL at hill folk...my DD is Maggie Rose. I am your basic Midwestern white trash American though It's Margaret Rose really. I wanted Margaret Primrose with Maggie Rose for short but I listened to my mother's popular opinion. Still sad about it!

Izzy is short for Isobel or Isabelle. You can make up as many Honey Boo Boo names you like, but everyone will automatically presume she's called Isobel, etc.
