Due to have a baby girl this summer. We have chopped our names down to these 3 final names. which is your fave? and what's your opinion on them?

Anaya - pronounced "A-Nay-A"
Luna
Anya

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Anaya sounds a bit negative. Yay or nay. It also sounds like "a neigher". Luna is pretty, but reminds me of the word "lunatic" unfortunately so I'd rule it out. I like similar names like Lana, Laura, Lena though.

Anya is a lovely name and I can't think of anything offputting about it!

MadameCholetsDirtySecret · 17/05/2016 09:50

I agree with House.

What about Lara?

mumsy83 · 17/05/2016 09:51

Thank you.. Lunatic 😂

Anya is gorgeous! Definitely the best of the three. Not overly common, but easy to pronounce, very suitable for all stages of life - it's the winner by a mile in my opinion!

mumsy83 · 17/05/2016 09:57

Thank you for your comments guys...
hmmm... "Lara" never really thought about that one, could be a grower Smile

Luna is a name I really want to like! But I agree it makes me think of lunatic

rainbowstardrops · 17/05/2016 10:03

Anya is my favourite from your choices.
I love, love, love Anais. Pretty and soft sounding

MrsJoeyMaynard · 17/05/2016 10:04

Anya is very pretty

mumsy83 · 17/05/2016 10:19

@rainbow love Anais too, it was on our shortlist but decided against it because of all the different pronunciations.. I would pronounce it "Ah-Nay" but have been told it's a French name and correct pronunciation is "Ah-Niy-ees" by quite a few people... also some pronounce it "An-Aise" just out of curiosity, how do you see it?

Luna or Lara

ApocalypseSlough · 17/05/2016 10:33

Anya is lovely!

YorkieDorkie · 17/05/2016 10:34

Anya - beautiful
How about Anara?

Frazzled2207 · 17/05/2016 10:38

Anaya sounds made up and one of those "how do you pronounce that" names.
Like the other two.

Karcheer · 17/05/2016 10:54

Luna is a lovely name for a puppy, not sure about a human baby.

I really like Lara.

mumsy83 · 17/05/2016 11:15

Thank you for your comments.
@Abitasleep thank you! quite a few names I like from your selection.. Love Mila pronounced mee-la was just a bit worried about people pronouncing it incorrectly

OP posts:
WanderingTrolley1 · 17/05/2016 11:17

Anya.

Miloarmadillo1 · 17/05/2016 11:21

Choose Anya, it's lovely.
Luna makes me think of Harry Potter and too close to lunatic for playground teasing.
I'm not fond of Anaya.

ABitAsleep · 17/05/2016 12:07

mumsy I would promounce Mila as Mee-la too, like the actress Mila Kunis

nilbyname · 17/05/2016 12:13

I have a Luna! And I am very away of its marmiteness.

So far she isn't at school so no readings have come up, but my some has a very run of the mill name and it gets shortened and teased. All names do!

Anya or Luna get my vote.

HouseOfBiscuits · 17/05/2016 12:26

You could have Annie as nickname for Anya.

I like Lara short for Larissa too.

Anais is pretty but the pronunciation thing would deter me from using it.

NoMudNoLotus · 17/05/2016 12:27

Luna .... Loony when she is older.

Mishaps · 17/05/2016 12:28

Not Luna - children will call her loony.

rainbowstardrops · 17/05/2016 12:29

I would pronounce Anais 'A nay'. Only ever heard it that way. Wouldn't have occurred to me that people would find it tricky to pronounce!

HouseOfBiscuits · 17/05/2016 12:31

I've only met one Anais and it was pronounced An-AY-iss. I'd have said Annay before that though!
