Saskia

Salene · 15/05/2016 19:57

Claudia sounds much more classy. I'm not a fan of Saskia

TheWindInThePillows · 15/05/2016 19:58

Saskia, I used to know a Saskia, she was very confident and kick-ass, and that's what I associate with the name.

cansu · 15/05/2016 20:03

Claudia.

I love them both, I could have had one of each but I got 2 boys!

Cosycottage4 · 15/05/2016 21:34

Thanks so much everyone, it looks like Saskia is the winner so far...I thought I was sold on Claudia until a few days ago but I think I've changed my mind!

Julfin, for a DS we would have Oliver-much more popular than my favourite girls names but have loved it since I was little and always wanted it for a DS if I ever had one Smile

Claudia by a country mile for me! Smile

OldGuard · 16/05/2016 20:46

Both are fabulous

cecilelliott · 17/05/2016 22:01

Saskia, due to pronunciation problems with Naomi

GreenBeans17 · 18/05/2016 23:10

Claudia

Pipilangstrumpf · 19/05/2016 10:06

I much prefer Saskia.

Don't like the meaning of Claudia.

AngharadTheSplendid · 23/05/2016 05:07

I'm having the exact same predicament with dd2!

Dd1 is Vivienne. I think Claudia goes slightly better with Vivi, but I think both Saskia and Claudia go beautifully with Naomi. In my head Claudia is a little classier but Saskia is more glam/feistier.

Have you thought about middle names? I have a middle name I love that goes beautifully with Saskia, but can't think of any that work really well with Claudia.

Also prefer Saskia's meaning (Saxon woman) to Claudia (lame). But then I'm not really bothered about meaning.

Saskia is rarer in the uk (600ish) I think Claudia is around 200 or 300. I like the fact that Saskia is less common.

Both have fab nicknames - coco for Claudia or Sassy/Suki/Kiki for Saskia.

I think maybe Claudia just edges ahead for me, despite all the practical reasons for preferring Saskia!

I realise this is really unhelpful sorry! But I understand your predicament and actually you can't make a wrong decision here because they're both FAB.

toffee1000 · 30/05/2016 19:26

Angharad I happen to be a Claudia Grin and my mn is Marjorie, after my great grandmother. Not had Coco as a nn, only things like Claud/s, Claudie or other nns that are nothing to do with my name.
I had no idea my name was as popular as it is!

AngharadTheSplendid · 01/06/2016 05:37

You have a beautiful name toffee! Have you enjoyed being a Claudia in life? Has it served you well? Grin Or would you rather have been a Saskia!?

MumOnACornishFarm · 01/06/2016 09:53

They're both lovely choices. Saskia is more unusual but I don't come across many Claudias either. I used to know a Saskia and she was also a lovely, fiery, independent creature Smile I think Claudia maybe goes a little better with Naomi, but that isn't a huge deal anyway, I think.
