Not my baby/name list, it's a friends. So feel free to be as honest as you like, I can filter out any overly harsh feedback! Grin

Friend would particularly like opinions and first associations with the following:
Claire
Georgina
Hannah
Laura
Erin
Saskia
Ramona
Kirsty

Alternative ideas welcome.
She already has Ellis (boy) and Maddie (Madeleine)

Claire is nice. I prefer Clare, Clara, or Claren.
Georgina is not something that I would consider, as in my home country it is a "silly" name.
Hannah is sweet, but quite soft. I can't picture shouting her at the park.
Laura is annoying and obsessed with horses. This is a personal association.
Erin is dull.
Saskia is cute.
I love Ramona.
Kirsty is awful. Kristy is fine.

BoboBunnyH0p · 15/05/2016 09:18

Claire, lovely and very under used I know several but they are all between 30-40years.
Georgina, OK but I prefer Georgia.
Hannah nice but the Hanrahan I've come across are soft, quietly spoken lacked confidence.
Erin, like it but quite popular.
Saskia sound strong and confident.
Romona I immediately think Romona the moaner, sorry.
Kirtsy, not a fan.

Saskia and Erin are my favourites! Not keen on Claire or Kirsty

SorenaJ · 15/05/2016 15:42

I really like Hannah, Laura and Erin. The other ones not so much.

albertcampionscat · 15/05/2016 16:11

Kirsty is great.

Claire - meh. Unusual for this generation though.
Hannah - bland as fuck
Georgina - it's alright
Laura - also bland
Erin - a name for wannabe Irish Americans
Saskia - nice but definitely seen as uber poncey where I am (Dublin...dunno about the UK).
Kirsty - lovely
Ramona - nice

manicinsomniac · 15/05/2016 16:25

Thanks for the thoughts.

Definitely no clear consensus; though perhaps Claire is the most popular and Hannah the least.

No to Claire from me. So dull and uninspired. It sounds heavy and flat. Clara is lovely, full of an old time charm. Erin is quite hard sounding. Hannah is nice but I prefer Anna (which is very similar sounding) then you could have the nickname is Annie for a tiny/toddler/little girl Anna. Georgina is ok, although I prefer Nina (I am thinking of the Gina ending of the name I think).

nectarini1983 · 15/05/2016 17:04

I dislike all apart from Saskia ..The others are very 80s / old school imo and names that probably became unpopular for a reason.

nectarini1983 · 15/05/2016 17:07

Been meaning to say maniac what a fantastic contribution you always make to people's name dilemmas. I picked my 4 week old daughter's names from a couple of your lists - thank you!! X

nectarini1983 · 15/05/2016 17:08

Manic....not maniac ha!! (Sleep deprived!) X

manicinsomniac · 15/05/2016 17:26

Aw, thanks nectarini - I am obsessed with names and lists. Love them. (hence my over involvement with what friends call their kids Grin )

(seriously - when I was about 12/13 I chose a book of Baby Names as a school prize. What the poor man handing out the prizes thought as this year 8 child walked across the stage to shake his hand and take the book I dread to think! Shock )

You're very welcome - it's clearly your specialist subject! Perhaps a career as a baby naming consultant! Xx

1horatio · 15/05/2016 17:59

Claire: I prefer Clara.
Georgina: Very nice.
Hannah: Lovely!!
Laura: Isn't it a bit bland...?
Saskia: Reminds me of something nasty. But I'm an expat from a German speaking country, so that's probably not an issue for native English speakers.
Ramona: Sweet. For personal "cow-names related reasons" (the animal, not annoying people) not something I'd chose, but that's just me...

YorkieDorkie · 15/05/2016 19:35

Claire - I always think of Claire from steps!
Georgina - shortens to George or Gina which I dislike equally.
Hannah - lovely and underrated.
Laura - also lovely.
Erin - not many about!
Saskia - mehhh.
Ramona - interesting.
Kirsty - mehhh.

Sophronia · 15/05/2016 22:23

I like Ramona best

Mumandmummer · 16/05/2016 09:17

What about Lara rather than Laura?
