My sons name is William George "Will" and if our second child is a daughter we're deciding between Clementine Louise and Arabella Louise.. Which do you prefer and why? We're struggling to decide. If we have another son we've chosen Henry James. Thank you.

Clementine

Clementine!

Both gorgeous and classy. But there are lots of A-names around at the moment so I'd go with clementine to be a bit different.

Clementine

Another vote for Clementine.

Beeziekn33ze · 09/05/2016 00:36

Love Clementine!

Beeziekn33ze · 09/05/2016 00:38

Reason- to me it is not as self consciously 'posh' as Arabella sounds and much cuter.

GoldPlatedBacon · 09/05/2016 06:59

I like both - it's a tough one! I would probably choose Arabella but I like Bella as a nn.

Boogers · 09/05/2016 07:02

Love Clementine! Clem or Clemmie for short.

mrsschu · 09/05/2016 07:17

I love Clementine. Have only come across one - a 5 year old with French parents. Not so keen on Arabella. It sounds like a doll's name to me.

1horatio · 09/05/2016 08:10

I love Clementine! I'd use it if it didn't sound like my own name (which also ends with "tine"...)

Louise is pretty and Clementine Louise is lovely. I also like Louisa Clementine :)

Clementine.

Arabella

LemonBreeland · 09/05/2016 10:56

Adore Clementine, DH vetoed it for our DD. Still gutted.

Jellybeam · 09/05/2016 10:59

Arabella. My DD's name. People say she's got such a pretty name. Clementine just reminds me of clementines. You may as well call her Satsuma.

AliciaMayEmory · 09/05/2016 11:01

Love Clementine.

IAmAPaleontologist · 09/05/2016 11:08

Either, they are both lovely. Wait and see what she looks/feels like? She will let you know. I met a baby Arabella a while back and thought it was awesome, I've not met one since.

ShmooBooMoo · 09/05/2016 11:37

It's a difficult one for me: Clementine makes me think of a little round orange fruit, and Arabella sounds snobby. I also dislike the shortening 'Bella' as I'm old enough to remember Bella Emberg and she pops into my heard when I hear the name. Sorry, just giving an honest opinion.
I love William/ Will though!

queenoftheboys · 09/05/2016 11:42

Clementine, I love it!

VaVaVooom · 09/05/2016 14:02

Arabella, definitely. Clementine is not nearly as beautiful, and as one poster pointed out, it's akin to 'satsuma'.

VaVaVooom · 09/05/2016 14:03

Plus nickname Clem.... Or Clemmy? Even Tina? No.

1horatio · 09/05/2016 15:20

Why not Tina or Clem?
Or what about Emmy, Em, Cleo or even Minnie? Or the probably more obvious Tiny, which some people here will probably hate (but it's my nn, so don't be too harsh :) ...)

Not to mention that many nns don't really seem to have a connection (or just a very vague one) to a person's actual name... A colleague of my OH is called Clementine. Her nn is Minty :) Not to mention that my OH's nn (the one his former classmates still use...) doesn't seem to have any connection to his first name, no idea how this happened, tbh... Grin

I personally wish I could use Clementine :)
