What are your thoughts on calling my first born son Frank? I love the name and I know Frankie is very popular but what about just Frank? Or any similar suggestions to go with a very popular surname? I like old fashioned names best.

Love it, and no problem with Frankie if it suits him.

Just re-read and saw that it's a family name for you too OP. My Frank is named after my granda who I didn't get to spend enough years with. Family names are the best.

It's a classy name that transcends time and trends. Good work!

I like it. Other only association that comes to mind is the anti drugs 'talk to Frank' complain.

I like it. Reminds me of a lot of different people - two neighbourhood dads (who were lovely) when I was growing up, St.Francis of Assissi who was so kind to animals and the beautiful song by Amy Winehouse which makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up every time I hear it.

It's a good 'un Vampishtortoise!

*The song "Take the box" from the album Frank, so lovely...

I love it. Also love Fred. We discounted both only because neither went with our surname.

I like it! I would probably use Franklin on BC personally, so he has the choice of either long name or short. You can't really shorten Frank, though I know some people prefer that.

DerelictMyBalls · 24/04/2016 10:35

I like Franklin or Francis shortened to Frank.

Frankie is awful.

Mclaren37 · 24/04/2016 14:54

Love Frank, esp with the full version Franklin!

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 24/04/2016 14:56

I really like it.

Love it as a nn for Francis

bikiniline · 24/04/2016 17:28

I have a Frank (on birth certificate). We have called him Frankie since he was a baby but as he's getting older (he's 8) more and more people are calling him Frank. I like either.

mrsschu · 24/04/2016 18:21

Up until about a year ago I'd have said it was very dated but DD now goes to nursery with a Frank nn Frankie and it's actually very cute on him. And good for all ages too. I don't like Francis or Franklin though.
