My due date is drawing very close and we still haven't decided on names, although we have short lists. Just wondering what people's thoughts were on them? I'm not keen on discussing them in real life.

Middle names are pretty much sorted (family and heritage names) - it's just first names that are proving difficult, particularly for boys. Doesn't help that we're both massively indecisive!

Girls:

Madeleine
Claudia
Rosalind
Jemima

Boys:

Charles
Robin
Guy
Alexander
Robert
Maxim
Lawrence

NovaArt3mis · 20/04/2016 10:41

ABitAsleep · 20/04/2016 10:44

Jemima for a girl and Robert or Robin for a boy are my favourties :)

Jemima or Rosalind
Alexander

1horatio · 20/04/2016 10:54

Jemima and Robert/Robin, imo.

TempsPerdu · 20/04/2016 12:02

I like Rosalind (although less so nn Ros) - nice strong name and underused at the moment I think. Love Robin, Alexander and Lawrence (although prefer Laurence spelling) from your boys' list.

wigglesrock · 20/04/2016 12:11

Lawrence by a country mile from the boys list. Maxim, Guy and Robin I just don't like.
I prefer Claudia from the girls list, Rosalind and Madeleine are nice just not as nice Grin and I don't like Jemima.

CaptainAnkles · 20/04/2016 12:13

I would use Madeleine or Claudia for a girl and Alexander for a boy.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/04/2016 12:15

Jemima or Claudia

Robert

StDogolphin · 20/04/2016 12:39

Rosalind or Lawrence, both lovely and underused.

I like all of them! Favourites: Robin and Rosalind.

Sophronia · 20/04/2016 15:07

Jemima or Claudia

Robert or Lawrence (prefer Laurence)

JSarah · 20/04/2016 16:59

Alexander
Madeleine

cecilelliott · 20/04/2016 18:12

Claudia for girls

Robert or Guy for boys

Good luck!

NameChange30 · 20/04/2016 18:17

Rosalind is lovely, could be shortened to Rosa or Ros, and is quite unusual (I think?)

I quite like Madeleine but it might be a bit more popular?

My favourites for a boy are Robin, Maxim and Lawrence (but would spell it Laurence, Laurie for short)

Don't like Claudia, Jemima or Charles.

BertieBeatle · 20/04/2016 18:18

I like Madeleine or Alexander.
Claudia means lame, not sure if that would put you off, lots of people aren't bothered about meanings but just thought I'd put that out there.
Lawrence and Lucas are also nice. I like Robin but prefer it on a girl.
I like Rose names like Rosalie, Rosa, Rosanna but Rosalind sounds a bit stuffy.

eatmytoes888 · 20/04/2016 19:48

Jemima

Guy

Lovely choices!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/04/2016 20:03

Love:

Claudia
Robin
Lawrence

Hate Guy. Sorry but it is a name I just really dislike.

joyfulworld · 21/04/2016 07:46

I love Madeleine and Alexander.

FeatheredTail · 21/04/2016 22:21

Thanks for the feedback and opinions.....obviously absolutely no use at all as there's no consensus Wink other than Charles isn't popular!

There I was thinking we'd get through a thread including Claudia without someone saying 'it means lame you know'. Maybe one day.

septembersunshine · 23/04/2016 18:56

Not much to add but I think they are all lovely names. Good list! gets pen to note a few down!

Jemima or Rosalind for me too (Jem and Rosa ;)

Alexander for a boy. What a strong name. I would have this in a flash if it wasn't my DH name!

PickleBot · 23/04/2016 21:52

With DS we waited to see what he looked like. We had a shortlist of 5 for each sex, when he was born he just looked like an Elliot. Luckily for us we both decided independently so no arguments!
