I like both, but am leaning towards Lois... Not a name I've come across for a while.

lois - my DF wanted to call me this (after superman's girlfriend) and I'm still a little bit Sad that DM didn't go for it

DramaAlpaca · 17/04/2016 21:21

Lois, I think.

Undercooked · 17/04/2016 21:25

I'm surprised people are saying that Anya is more popular than Lois. There are two little Girls called Lois in my DD's school but I have never met a child Anya. Lois is popular along with Edith and Iris and Clara and other "old lady chic" names.

Both lovely names.

2016namechangecomingalong · 17/04/2016 21:27

Anya

SanityClause · 17/04/2016 21:27

Lois.

Anya sounds sort of harsh to my ears.

KoalaDownUnder · 17/04/2016 21:27

Anya.

SanityClause · 17/04/2016 21:29

Is Lois a popular baby name now?

Of the two I know, one is in her early thirties and the other in her mid teens.

Salfordlass · 17/04/2016 21:34

Anya nice but sounds polish /Eastern European - Lois is more traditional sounding and reminds me of Lois lane who's a very strong, feisty character
Lois is my favourite

Lovemytent · 17/04/2016 21:41

Anya but only when pronounced Aaaanya
(plus it makes me think of Buffy the Vampire Slayer....showing my age)

Sophronia · 17/04/2016 21:42

Anya

Jojay · 17/04/2016 22:02

Lois

JSarah · 17/04/2016 22:11

Lois

DerelictMyBalls · 18/04/2016 08:08

I love both, but would slightly lean towards Anya, if only because Lois can sound a bit like 'Lowest'.

regularbutpanickingabit · 18/04/2016 09:43

Both lovely. Marginally prefer Anya

ABitAsleep · 18/04/2016 09:44

I love Anya!

I have always disliked Lois, I'm not sure what it is about it. The spelling doesn't look right, i don't like how it sounds when you say it. nothing about it in pleasing imo! Eugh

Burgatroyd · 19/04/2016 13:39

I like Lois pronounced as Loys

Itinerary · 19/04/2016 13:44

In some accents that would sound like "lice" though Burgatroyd.

Leahs93 · 19/04/2016 13:50

Anya is beautiful

ashesandfire · 19/04/2016 18:20

Anya

NanaNina · 19/04/2016 23:05

Anya of course as it's my grand-daughter's name and we've never come across another one! Lois - she will always have to spell her name.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 20/04/2016 07:55

Will you pronounce lois as

Low-iss or
Loyce?

I know a Low-iss in her 40
And met a baby Loyce about 5 years ago, I think.

Standalittletaller · 20/04/2016 07:59

Both lovely. I know one of each, both in their 50s although I don't associate the names with that age group.

Tactfulcactus · 20/04/2016 08:01

Anya is lovely
Lois sounds clumsy ( and pronouncing it 'Loyce' is just weird- like pronouncing Sean to rhyme with bean!)

KoalaDownUnder · 20/04/2016 09:20

God, please don't go for Lois pn 'Loyce'. That's just dreadful (sounds like 'lice').

Actually, the more I think about it, the less I like Lois. In any pron.
