Lois or Anya?

Which do you prefer? Thank you.

I like both, but am leaning towards Lois... Not a name I've come across for a while.

lois - my DF wanted to call me this (after superman's girlfriend) and I'm still a little bit that DM didn't go for it

I'm surprised people are saying that Anya is more popular than Lois. There are two little Girls called Lois in my DD's school but I have never met a child Anya. Lois is popular along with Edith and Iris and Clara and other "old lady chic" names.

Of the two I know, one is in her early thirties and the other in her mid teens.

Anya nice but sounds polish /Eastern European - Lois is more traditional sounding and reminds me of Lois lane who's a very strong, feisty character

I love both, but would slightly lean towards Anya, if only because Lois can sound a bit like 'Lowest'.

I have always disliked Lois, I'm not sure what it is about it. The spelling doesn't look right, i don't like how it sounds when you say it. nothing about it in pleasing imo! Eugh

I like Lois pronounced as Loys

In some accents that would sound like "lice" though Burgatroyd.

Anya of course as it's my grand-daughter's name and we've never come across another one! Lois - she will always have to spell her name.

Loyce?

I know a Low-iss in her 40
And met a baby Loyce about 5 years ago, I think.

Both lovely. I know one of each, both in their 50s although I don't associate the names with that age group.

Lois sounds clumsy ( and pronouncing it 'Loyce' is just weird- like pronouncing Sean to rhyme with bean!)

God, please don't go for Lois pn 'Loyce'. That's just dreadful (sounds like 'lice').

Actually, the more I think about it, the less I like Lois. In any pron.
