It's a bit surnamey, but also a perfectly good name.

redexpat · 04/04/2016 22:37

Louis?

Coldtoeswarmheart · 04/04/2016 22:39

Very popular here, I know 3 7yo boys called Lewis and another called Louis (Louie). It's fine.

pieceofpurplesky · 04/04/2016 22:40

V popular in NW.

Laquila · 04/04/2016 22:41

I really like it. I've only ever met one other (Staffs) and that was years ago.

Passmethecrisps · 04/04/2016 22:42

I think it is a great name. I am in Scotland but still don't come across too many.

superram · 04/04/2016 22:43

I prefer Lewis to Louie -you know where you stand. Strong name, generally well behaved.

FlowerOfTheWest · 04/04/2016 22:45

Perfectly nice name but its popularity would put me off using it.

Kr1stina · 04/04/2016 22:48

Lovely

Nospringflower · 04/04/2016 22:56

Love the name Lewis (Scottish but have only come across 3).

lilydaisyrose · 04/04/2016 23:06

Common here (like Isla, Harris etc) - also Scotland!

If you like Lewis - have you considered other Scottish boys names - Hamish, Angus, Innes, Fergus, Ramsay, Ruardiah etc?

DramaAlpaca · 04/04/2016 23:52

Love it.

It's so well established as a first name it doesn't sound surnamey to me.

Ludways · 05/04/2016 00:04

I know s few but that's over the past 30 years, they're spread out, lol. It's nice.

iyamehooru · 05/04/2016 00:05

Very popular

calzone · 05/04/2016 00:05

Meh

GingerLeaves · 05/04/2016 00:21

Popular, really? I've only ever known 3 (and that was when I was at school)

Paddletonio · 05/04/2016 00:34

I like it (much better than Louis) and I don't think it's overly popular (I'm in southwest)

mawbroon · 05/04/2016 00:39

There are zillions of Lewises where I am (Scotland).

Ds1 is 10 and out of the 60 odd kids in his school year, there are 4 called Lewis. There are another 2 in our street plus umpteen others. They all have to be referred to as Lewis

AuntJane · 05/04/2016 08:05

Just to confuse things a bit - my Welsh grandmother pronounced her surname as Lyew-is.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/04/2016 08:06

Not keen.

Much prefer Louis.

OllyBJolly · 05/04/2016 08:36

Love it - but yes, popular in Scotland

Chloeisobelle21 · 05/04/2016 09:50

I like Lewis :)
It's my older brothers name and it suits him down to a T. I think it's a nice classic name with a gentle touch to it Smile

Summ3r · 05/04/2016 10:14

I don't like it only because I know 2 cheeky boys called Lewis
