Hi there. Our 2nd son is due in a few weeks. We are liking Jaylen - I don't want to ask family (I made that mistake last time) so I found this site!

Thank you in advance. Our 1st son is Clayden. Are they too similar?

Thanks xxx

I, too, know a Jaylen. However, he, and his family, live in America - I think it's more known there Smile

Herewegoagainfolks · 30/03/2016 14:03

Go and stand at your back door and yell both names together a few times.

They are too similar. And hard to say together.

Herewegoagainfolks · 30/03/2016 14:04

Just Jay would be fine though.

AuntieStella · 30/03/2016 14:10

Could you label him Jeremy Leonard in full, then Jay-Len could be a nickname?

But I think in practice it's far too like Clayden in day to day use.

LittleNelle · 30/03/2016 14:21

Too similar.

How about Kai? Or Jesse?

SaveSomeSpendSome · 30/03/2016 14:25

I do know someone who has a son called jalen and it is double barrelled with the name jase.

I think it is a made up name

Wink
MamaLazarou · 30/03/2016 14:48

It sounds a bit too similar to 'Jailin' (the fashion for wearing ones trousers low so ones pants are showing).

Jalen-Jase Confused
The mind boggles

I know someone with an Aiden and a Jaylen. Never heard of Clayden before.

Not my type of names but definitely too similar (if this is not a joke thread!)

MackerelOfFact · 30/03/2016 15:58

It's horrible.

Plus it sounds like 'Jail and'.

Which is a bit unfortunate as it kind of sounds like the name of someone who might end up in one.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 30/03/2016 16:02

If you must make up your own unique scrabblebag name, at least make it sound pleasant. 'Jaylen' is hideous.

SpaceDinosaur · 30/03/2016 16:07

"Scrabble bag" name

Ha! I have never heard that one before! Grin

Erm, OP, I think Jaylen is too similar to Clayden

We could devise a yooneek name generator.

Select a first syllable:

Kay
Jay
Bray
Bry
Hay
Jax
Ty
Ry
Mac

Select a second syllable:

den
len
son
sen
lee
ler
dee
ce

Tydee, Jayler, Ryce and Jaxce are among my personal faves. Too cute.

I know a sweet little boy called Jaylen.

I've never confused his name with Jayden. Probably because I have one of those myself!

Herewegoagainfolks · 31/03/2016 07:53

LadyMonica and others, it's not necessary to be quite so mean to the OP.

You know all those threads about nasty bullies? Re-read your posts- you should be ashamed of yourselves.

mscherryviolet · 31/03/2016 08:20

Yeah they sound really similar. I'm not keen. Do you want a name beginning with J in particular?
