Percy.

Is it one of those nice old fashioned names or one that is going to ensure a life time of teasing?

We already have a 13 month old Bob.

Other names on 'The list' are:

Ted (Edward)
Wilf (Wilfred)
Bert (Albert)
Will ( William)

I really like Wilfred, William, and Edward but not too keen on Albert or Percy x

None of these are my cup of tea as not in to 'old people' names for boys or girls...but if that's your thing, go for it! I heard a circa 2 year old Walter being called by his mum a few wks ago.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/03/2016 21:01

Don't like Percy.

Love Will.

Ted is good too.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 28/03/2016 21:06

Percy Pig

Point Percy at the porcelain (have a wee)

I wouldn't.

soundsystem · 28/03/2016 21:09

I like Percy. Also Sid (which for some reason I think of as really similar).

From your list I like Bert and Wilf as well. Ted's not really my cup of tea as it's really popular where I am for boys and girls (Teddy). Will makes me think of a really annoying slightly dim posh person but I appreciate that's very subjective - I'm sure your Will would be lovely Grin

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 28/03/2016 21:47

TBH. I've never known anyone to be teased over their name, but I've also never came across a child called Percy.

Will's the nicest out of all your names

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/03/2016 21:49

Percy is terrible and I don't like Bert. The others are all fine.

ilovevegcrisps · 28/03/2016 21:49

God, I have! I was crucified over my name.

Sophronia · 28/03/2016 21:50

I really like Percy. I also like Albert and William but prefer Bill to Will as a nn.

GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 23:24

Edward is my favourite! I love Ted/Teddy.

I really like William too, but prefer the nickname Billy Smile

Undercooked · 28/03/2016 23:29

My grandfather always referred to going for a wee as "Pointing Percy at the porcelain" so it's not a great name to my ear.

I like Wilf and Bertie but Bert and Bob sound a bit Sesame Street when put together. So I vote for Wilf.

SaveSomeSpendSome · 28/03/2016 23:39

Percy reminds me of the percy pig sweets that are in m&s.

I dont really like old outdated names on young people.

If you are looking for something that suits all ages but something that is a fairly underused name i would look at...

Saul
Jack
Thomas
Matthew

BettyBi0 · 29/03/2016 06:39

Sorry I can't get past the Pig thing

DragonboysMum · 29/03/2016 12:40

Thanks everyone. I'd not made the Percy Pig connection, which is odd really as my eldest loved them when he was younger!

Also, never even heard of the toilet reference!! This is why these threads are a good thing Grin

I guess we'll strike Percy off the list then.
The only one we're both remotely agreed on is Ted. I'm really hoping he arrives and just looks like he should be a certain name. DS1 was like that. His name had never even been considered!
