Does this sound silly?

I'm currently pregnant with baby #2, and while DH and I have decided on a boys name we're really struggling with a girl. One of the very few we've agreed we like is Rosie... But our surname is Robson. Would the double 'R' sound silly? We'd give her a middle name to break it up a bit, we're undecided on that as well at the minute though... Maybe Rosie Emilia? Opinions please!

Rosie Robson is lovely.

Not a problem at all.

Our first born has almost this exact name although the surname is only one syllable. It totally suits her. Amusingly we and many others often call her by her first name surname in all situations.

That doesn't happen with her siblings.

It's lovely, unless she grows up struggling to pronounce her r. My daughter would really struggle with it!

rainbowstardrops · 27/03/2016 09:52

I think it sounds lovely. Very pretty

Ludwsys · 27/03/2016 10:05

My dad would've struggled terribly with the r's until a year or two ago and probably still would when she gets tired and she's 10 now.

10 years is a long time to be Wosie Wobson.

JoJoS123 · 27/03/2016 11:07

I love Rosie! So I think it's fine Smile

Just to be clear, she and we love it!

nearlyteatime101 · 27/03/2016 11:18

It sounds nice to me.

plimsolls · 27/03/2016 11:20

I think it's lovely. Never would have occurred to me to think it was remotely silly.

AliciaMayEmory · 27/03/2016 11:23

I love it! Our surname begins with an R too and I really wanted a name that began with R for DS, but DH wasn't keen. I know a Rosie Robinson which I think is lovely. She is Rosalynd on her BC.

spanky2 · 27/03/2016 11:27

I like it. If you like it go for it as it doesn't really matter what other people think.

ScarlettDarling · 27/03/2016 11:28

It's lovely. I love a bit of alliteration in names. Go for it!

LolaStarr · 27/03/2016 11:28

Ok thanks for the feedback everyone, I think we're probably going to go with it. I expected a few negative opinions but there's never going to be a name that everyone likes! Smile

I like it and don't see any problem. Personally I'd use a longer version as her official name on bc and shorten it to rosie. Eg rosanna, rosalind, rosemary. She might not want to be called rosie when she's an adult.
