Amelie, Matilda, or Isabella?

As the title really! These are the handful of names we can agree on for DD1 and need some help choosing. Think all are lovely so some thoughts would be fab Smile

Any other suggestions with a similar feel to these would be fantastic - I loved Adeline, but DH didn't along with all my favourite names

Thanks so much in advance!

Isabella is my favourite.

Matilda is very popular but nice enough.

Amelie I'm not a fan of- very very popular because of the film (I guess?) and unless you are french sounds quite odd to my ear.

Just to clarify - we know all these names are very popular, so it's not a massive consideration! Smile

Have you considered nickname options for these, op? That is usually a huge deciding factor in choosing names for our dc. There are a few names we liked but disliked the obvious nicknames intensely so they were sadly struck off the list.

AuntieStella · 28/02/2016 20:30

I prefer Matilda and Isabella, as both strike me as strong classic and fails pan-European names (I've been reading about Plantagenets recently).

Similar: Elinor, Mary, Margaret, Maude, Joan, or the rather splendid Berengaria

Amelie seems friller and less substantial when compared to them. But perhaps that's exactly why you like it.

Similar: Alice (also a Plantagenet btw), Nicole, Louise, Eugenie

Sophronia · 28/02/2016 20:36

Matilda

glittersparkles · 28/02/2016 20:36

We have considered nicknames, would shorten Matilda to Tilly and Amelie to Mimi.

Could I get NN Belle from Isabella? I like Isabelle but don't love it like I do Isabella. May shorten to Issy alternatively.

Thanks for feedback so far.

All very sweet nicknames, with beautiful names for them to grow into. :) I personal prefer Matilda over the rest, but it's a close call. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

I love Matilda but it is so popular. I don't like Amelie.

joyfulworld · 29/02/2016 12:13

Isabella is lovely. and I like Adeline too.

DontKillMyVibe · 29/02/2016 13:36

Out of the 3 you've suggested, Isabella is my favourite. Bella, Belle or Izzy would all be popular nicknames.

jemimastar · 29/02/2016 14:33

Isabella, definitely. Matilda and Amelie both sound a bit try hard/twee/trendy for a specific time but not really classics.

Theresomethingaboutdairy · 02/03/2016 23:23

Isabella for sure! We have an Isabella but she tends to go by either Belle or Bella. Beautiful name Smile

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 02/03/2016 23:30

Isabella is my favourite for the nn's.

I also love Stella and hope you choose that. Wink

Gummibearchen · 03/03/2016 14:01

Adeline is lovely and by far the nicest and less overused of your suggestions.

Summ3r · 03/03/2016 16:37

My favourite is Matilda but hubby won't wear it at all Isabella is in my top as well
