Yes. If you were naming twins, I'd say don't call them Zoe and Chloe. But mother and baby is absolutely fine.

If she ever has a brother though, please don't call him Joey.

DH is Ed, we considered Fred for a boy... so I'd say yes!

I had a friend called Zoe from school who had a younger sister called Chloe. Also had a brother called Louie. Her other siblings had non sound-a-like names.

I say if you like a name, go for it. Doubt many any going to notice the similarity unless it's pointed out & then they'll forget it anyway.

I think people might get you mixed up... Especially in that phase when you're doing new baby things and meeting other people with new babies. "Oh, I met a lovely woman at the baby massage class... What was her name, now? She was Zoe and the baby was Chloe. No, other way round. No, I can't remember." I met mum and baby called Martha and Matilda - not even that similar, and I still can't for the life of me remember which is which. I had to stop talking to her in the end because it got embarrassing.

My real name is Julia and I have a Claudia. Yes, people (doctors, health visitors) sometimes get the two mixed up but apart from that it is fine.

Zoe is a great name... it's my name and love it! I also love the name Chloe. They're different names just end in the same letter. No problem. TBH most of the mums I met after DS was born were 'Henry's mum' 'Kates mum' etc for the first few weeks until I needed to apologise and ask for their name again when swapping phone numbers. By which point you know each other well enough anyway :-)
I disagree that people will get mixed up because they sound similar. New mums get everything mixed up it won't be personal.... it's just lack of sleep!
