We quite like these names but none stands out and we should probably narrow them down...

Magnus
Huxley nn Huck
Raf maybe short for Rafael
Rory
Tor

Thanks Wine

I love Magnus! Rafael is also nice but I prefer Raphael.

bigredballoon · 25/02/2016 15:29

Magnus or Rory are OK
Huck rhymes with F* - think of the potential long term playground teasing banter
Tor seems a bit....well, unfinished?
Rafael I really like, I really like Raf too but would have the full name on any birth certificate.

pilates · 25/02/2016 15:31

Rory is lovely, not keen on the rest.

thebiscuitindustry · 25/02/2016 17:13

I like Magnus and Huxley.

DontKillMyVibe · 25/02/2016 17:44

Magnus. Sorry, but don't like the rest.

SweetieDrops · 25/02/2016 17:45

Rory or Magnus.

Allalonenow · 25/02/2016 17:50

Rory and Magnus are the only ones I like.

How about Ralph?
Is Tor short for Victor?

DarkBlueEyes · 25/02/2016 17:55

Raphael, shortened to Raf. Sorry but the others leave me cold.

SnuffleGruntSnorter · 25/02/2016 17:55

I like Raphael. Not keen on the others I'm afraid

rageagainsttheBIL · 25/02/2016 18:55

Gah I was hoping you'd all come back with the same answer ;)

Think it's really between Magnus, Rory and Raf. I don't think DH likes Raf enough but it's probably my favourite.

Rory we both like but don't love, feels a bit "rugby player" to me, and I worry what if he can't say his r's like Jonathan Ross (!).

Magnus DH really likes and i think is fine but our surname begins with M and I'm worried it will be a bit weirdly alliterative, I'm also not sure what it will be shortened to - "mag" isn't great.

Would Angus be similar enough to Magnus? Then the initial is A instead of M.

Or another name ending in "us"? Atticus, Cassius, Barnabus (Barney), Rufus?

Not so sure about Tor by itself, but I like Torin and you could shorten it to Tor.

DramaAlpaca · 25/02/2016 21:41

I love Rory & Magnus.

Raf is nice too, if short for Rafael.

pieceofpurplesky · 25/02/2016 21:52

Are you a shadow hunter fan? Rafael and Magnus both characters in the series of books!
Love both names though

marmitecrumpets · 25/02/2016 21:53

Rory

dottyaboutstripes · 25/02/2016 21:56

Magnus absolutely

TempsPerdu · 25/02/2016 21:59

Magnus, with Rory a fairly distant second. Not a fan of the others.

Pantsalive · 25/02/2016 22:50

How about Rafe rather than Raf or Torben shortened to Tor?
I love Huxley.

Sofiria · 26/02/2016 00:35

I like Rafael and Magnus!

I know that Tor is an actual name but I just think 'hill' when I see it.

rageagainsttheBIL · 26/02/2016 05:46

Never heard of shadow hunter piece but I'll have to check it out now.

DH likes rafe but I'm not so keen for some reason. Just prefer the sound of Raf.

Torben is cute.

DH and I will try to nail this tomorrow...

Magnus or Rafael.

Both fabulous names.

KatieT12 · 26/02/2016 13:20

Rory 100%

joyfulworld · 26/02/2016 13:23

Rafael and Rory.

rageagainsttheBIL · 26/02/2016 18:14

Leaning towards Magnus with Rory second.

The main barrier for me is that we know people with those names and I can't help think of them when I say / hear them! Anyone got experience of getting past this?
