What are people's opinions on Shonagh for DD? Would like to pass on some irish heritage without having too difficult a spelling. Pronounced Show-na

I like it. I'd go with Shona rather than Shonagh.

My dd is Shona. My dh is Scottish and he chose it. She's never needed a surname as she's the only one in our town with the name so everyone knows who she is. No one has ever shortened it.

I rather like the name Shona.

As well as a pretty female name, it's also the name of a very beautiful island off the west coast of Scotland: eileanshona.com/the-island/

There is also the name Sine (pron. 'Sheena') - from the Gaelic for Jean.
