Ada or Aida (or even Ayda)

One of the girls name on our list is Ada. I have and Ada on my family tree and DH has an Aida on his. Which do you prefer?

My DH thought they were pronounced the same but I pronounce them differently, Ada- a-duh and Aida -eye-ee-duh.

However when I have spoken to friends and family about this name, they all assumed Ada was adda like the snake as they were pronouncing the A phonetically like A for Apple, and thought it needed an i for the name to be pronounced Ay-duh, like HaiL PaiL SNaiL... I think Ayda looks a little bit made up.

I think we prefer the name pronounced Ay-duh not adda. Would we forever be saying like Ava but with a D?
Which spelling would you choose of the 3.

I hope I have explained this well :)

Definitely Ada! I like palindromes and I like the character in Cold Mountain.

I know an Ayda but prefer Ada. I pronounce it Ayda not adda

I agree that I never thought people wouldn't know how to say Ada. Adda never crossed my mind at all, it was only when a close friend said that's what she thought, that it made me think would other people think this as well. As I mentioned in my OP I would pronounce them differently as they are different names, and adding the i to Ada makes it eye-ee-da (Aida).

I just wanted clarification that everyone would think the same as me and wouldn't say Adda. I realise in my OP I said we prefer Ada to Adda (which of course I do ;) but I meant to say to Aida).

Thank you all for your in put
