What do you think of this? I like Teddy and Harrison but Dexter is our favourite and don't know of any others in the area. Those we've mentioned the name too aren't keen.

I love it!

Ds was going to be Dexter, we were torn between two names. I gave dm the final decision and she went for the other name.

pilates · 14/02/2016 20:08

Dexter, a million times better than Teddy.

manicinsomniac · 14/02/2016 20:08

I know a very cool little Dexter. When I first met him, I didn't like the name. I thought it was a bit, I don't know, like calling someone 'cool guy' or 'dude' rather than an actual name. But now I've got used to it I really like it.

SmallBee · 14/02/2016 20:08

Love Dexter. Unfortunately DH is a fan of the TV show which somewhat put us off using it,but then we had a girl anyway so wasn't an issue!

WinterWinnie · 14/02/2016 20:15

A Serial Killer! Grin

I prefer both Harrison and Teddy!

I do like Harry more than Harrison, but prefer Teddy to both :)

Dexter is still okay :)

sugarplumfairy28 · 14/02/2016 20:18

Dexter is certainly on my list. I also have Felix and Archer. We have a grey kitten called Teddy, so can only picture him for that name. I can't stand Harrison, sorry.

Sophronia · 14/02/2016 20:28

I prefer Harrison. Not keen on Dexter or Teddy.

thebiscuitindustry · 14/02/2016 20:29

I like Harrison best of the three.

Paperblank · 14/02/2016 20:50

My friend has just named her son Dexter. It suits him and it's a lovely name.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 14/02/2016 21:20

Thank you for your opinions :)
I expect too be flamed for this ~ my childhood cat that recently died was called DexterBlush which is how I thought of it (love the programme too secretly), Teddy I liked for a girl but heard of boys called of it, and if I say why I like Harrison I'll "out" myself.

Sorry I rushed that message!

Love it, great choice.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 14/02/2016 21:23

It's DS2's Middle name. I think it might suit him more than his first name tbh, but I can't imagine what my mum would say if I seapped what I called him now!

mrsschu · 14/02/2016 21:32

I don't like Dexter at all. It sounds too "trying to be cool/trendy". Not crazy about your other names either but would go with Teddy from the list. Although I think Ted is far, far nicer. I'd also only use Ted/Teddy as a nn for Edward.

MaelstromOfLunacy · 14/02/2016 21:32

I have one Smile he's two and a half. Have only ever had positive comments on his name

Xantheticus · 14/02/2016 21:36

Don't do it! His nickname will be Sexy Dexy all through school.

Pancakeflipper · 14/02/2016 21:39

I know one and he's brilliant.

He's not yet been called Sexy Dexy, but the boy called Rex is suffering with the girls yelling "Sexy Rexy" at him.

timelytess · 14/02/2016 21:40

No, sorry.

NormHonal · 14/02/2016 21:43

If DC1 had been a boy, Dexter is the name we would have used. Such a fab name, and Dex is a brilliant nickname.

Haven't come across one IRL either.

I know a couple of Harrisons and don't like the name.

ColdAsIceCubes · 14/02/2016 21:44

I know one Dexter, he is a lovely lovely young boy and really suits his name. I wanted Harrison for one of my boys, but my DD vetoed it, it would've suited my ds as much as his actual name does.

Narp · 14/02/2016 21:46

I don't like it. Too trendy

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 15/02/2016 11:42

Ahh mixed reviews, I suppose most names do?

wasn't dexter st.jock a character 'dick swinging' on eddie murphys comedy tour in the 80's. Can't remmebr the name of the tour now though. Got to say that is going back a few years! Good luck. Teddy is sweeter out of them I think :)

woopywoo · 15/02/2016 21:00

I have a Dexter Miles aged ten. He suits his name perfectly and was born before the TV show! Never been another one at his school.

LastTripToTulsa · 15/02/2016 21:20

There are lots of Dexters these days x
