Saw this name on TV, never knew it was a 'real' name! Opinions?

I like it Smile

Lexipedia · 12/02/2016 17:23

Love it. It was top of my shortlist. Then I had a boy.

FunkyPeacock · 12/02/2016 17:25

I've always liked it - only every known one IRL

Tartyflette · 12/02/2016 17:25

It's lovely. And fairly timeless.

Lolimax · 12/02/2016 17:26

I know a couple...they all call themselves Ros. What does that tell you? I think it's a pretty name, they obviously disagree!

CPtart · 12/02/2016 17:46

Prefer Roseanne.

Sophronia · 12/02/2016 18:10

Not keen. I prefer Rosalind.

AuntJane · 13/02/2016 10:45

I used to know a wonderful Rosalie, but for an option try Rosalind, Rosamund or just Rosa.

Alisvolatpropiis · 13/02/2016 10:47

It's a bit wet and sounds too much like Rosie Lee which is Cockney rhyming slang for cup of tea.

Gracey79 · 13/02/2016 10:52

I like it but would assume a twilight connection as it's the only time I've heard it

misshornblowerwouldbuyit · 13/02/2016 10:54

I like it, there's a Rosalie in Grimm & she rocks!

cornwallsharon · 13/02/2016 11:04

I really like it, but it's likely to get shortened to Rosie I guess which is pretty popular. It does make me think of Twilight too, but I don't think that's a real reason not to use it. I think it's feminine but not too little girly.

MamaMotherMummy · 14/02/2016 12:44

No substance to it. Just pretty for pretty's sake.

RosalieDene · 14/02/2016 12:47

I love the name Rosalie (as you might see from my NN) - It's the name of a character in the chalet school books and is top of my list if I ever have a daughter!

Angeladelight · 14/02/2016 12:52

I think it's a lovely name, somewhat unusual without being too "out there".

WinterWinnie · 14/02/2016 19:47

I like it - I like the NN Rosie too

TrinityForce · 14/02/2016 19:49

It's dutch! and was in the top 100 there a few years ago.

There's also a dutch book "klein rosalie iz ziek" for kids.

It's a lovely name, but even with dutch DP I can't use it because of the twilight connection. It'd be all anyone in the UK would know it from.

DeffoJeffo · 15/02/2016 20:04

This is my middle name! Agree that it's unusual without being too "out there". I really didn't like it when I was growing up (sorry) for two reasons - 1) it was just a bit too girlie/pretty and I was a bit of a tom boy and 2) people often think it's "Rosa-Lee" which is just annoying! Saying that, it's grown on me now and I like the nickname Rosie for a first name :)

redvelvet215 · 16/02/2016 16:47

I think its gorgeous Smile so pretty and feminine

EverybodyHatesATourist · 16/02/2016 18:28

I like it but I'm an old rocker and it's a Thin Lizzy song.

ThomasRichard · 16/02/2016 18:30

I know a small Rosalie.

I personally prefer Rosamund but I wouldn't consider Rosalie as 'out there' or associate the name with Twilight.
