Baby boy name help! Is it ridiculous?

Both my partner and I absolutely adore the name Isaac. However our surname is Hunt. Many people have pointed out the unfortunate wording that these names together creates. However we cannot find another name that we like or agree on. Every name seems to be second to Isaac and just doesn't feel right.

The only way that could possible get us around it is to double barrel his first name to Isaac-william.

Do you think this would still be inappropriate to call him? Or do you have any other suggestions?

Hahaha!

DickDewy · 31/01/2016 09:33

No and no.

Normandy144 · 31/01/2016 09:33

Have to say even though you love it I wouldn't. Can you double barrel your surnames to get around it?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 31/01/2016 09:33

Totally inappropriate. Zachary?

Only1scoop · 31/01/2016 09:34

Sorry I like your name choice but not with your surname.

I think the hyphenated creations are awful and that one is a real mouthful. The 'William' won't get used.

ByThePrickingOfMyThumbs · 31/01/2016 09:39

No , given your surname Issac is not a good idea. I don't think Issac-William would work either. 1) because it's a bit of a mouthful and doesn't really flow very well and 2) because lots of people will just call him Issac and then you're back to your original problem.

Pipistrella · 31/01/2016 09:39

What's your maiden name? Could you use that instead of or as well as Hunt?

Pipistrella · 31/01/2016 09:40

Zac Hunt is just as bad

Prayingforsnow · 31/01/2016 09:40

I assumed it was a joke. (It is a well-known joke.)

Prayingforsnow · 31/01/2016 09:40

Why don't you just call him Mike?

KaraokeQueenOfTheNorth · 31/01/2016 09:41

Back to the drawing baord I think I'm afraid! No way can you call a child Isaac Hunt.

Beeeeckyy · 31/01/2016 09:45

The surname Hunt seems to be unfortunate with alot of names but with having a step daughter I'm reluctant to use my maiden name as I don't want the family to feel segregated at all.

It seems we can't really have any name ending in a c or k... -.-

This is a wind up, surely!!

Bin85 · 31/01/2016 09:47

I know a Thomas/Tom with your surname
William is good too

Beeeeckyy · 31/01/2016 09:49

I wish it was a joke.. But finding a name is proving a very difficult task. My partner was quick to point out aswell though that any name we give him he will always get called things like Mike, just like my partner did.

Nobody will use William and your poor son will never understand why you did this to him. No single name is so special as to risk a life time of teasing for your child.

namechange7711 · 31/01/2016 15:42

William's no better. Willy Hunt?

You can give your DS any surname you like. Doesn't have to be yours or DH's. Just ask the Registrar to write down any name you like and they'll use it.

If you definitely want to use Hunt, these are names I think of as being similar to Isaac:

Xander
Dexter
Rex
Jago
Elijah
Nathaniel

Jesus, no.
The poor kid getting lumbered with that Grin

TheLittleLion · 31/01/2016 17:34

You can't do that to your child!
How about Isaiah? I think it's pretty similar to Isaac.

KatOnATinRo0f · 31/01/2016 17:45

What about Joshua?

villainousbroodmare · 31/01/2016 17:47

Definite and utter no.

A very bad idea Grin

MNetter15 · 31/01/2016 17:56

Could you double barrel your surnames?

MalbecAndLindt · 31/01/2016 18:02

Sorry but no, I definitely wouldn't!
