Can't think a boys name!

We can't agree on anything! I am looking for a traditional name that isn't too out there but isn't ridiculously popular either.

James and George are contenders but I am not convinced on either. I keep coming back to James but I don't like Jim!
I also don't mind Oscar but am still not 100% sold.

We have ruled out William, Zac, Max, Sam, Nicholas, Alexander and Luke due to one reason or another (mainly nieces and nephews and other family members!)

OH likes Vincent but I think it's a little too unusual for my taste Hmm

Any ideas!

I do think Jack is a nice classic, and haven't heard too many of them about recently.

HollyMW · 26/01/2016 19:19

Edward, Charles, Matthew

NickNacks · 26/01/2016 19:21

I have a James and he has never ever been called Jim. Why would he? Only if he introduced himself as Jim would people give him that abbreviation.

I still love his name and we rarely have another in the same class/ group as him.

James is lovely and I would never shorten to Jim without knowing if they liked or wanted that nn. Jamie is also similar to James and really nice, and Edward and Matthew that pp suggested are lovely. Can I add Joseph and Daniel to the mix. Also, do you like names such as Gabriel or Sebastian? Lots of lovely classic names out there!

Henry is the most perfect boy's name ever invented.
BOOM!

Provencalroseparadox · 26/01/2016 19:56

I like Vincent and Magnus. I also like Rupert but I know it isn't everyone's taste

VerBot · 26/01/2016 20:06

A James will not get called Jim these days ( unless the parents decide on that nn). Go with James, or how about Adam or Francis?

Love James Smile

Nathaniel

I like James though. And Jamie. I'd shorten it to Jay not Jim.

Greyhorses · 27/01/2016 17:53

Thank you to all of you!

I think James is the front runner at the moment but ive got some new ones to think about! I like Elliott too and that's one I hadn't thought of.

I like both Jack and Daniel but close friends have used both recently.

I still like Vincent but don't think I would be brave enough to use it Confused

It's not brave to use Vincent. It's beautiful.

GoldPlatedBacon · 27/01/2016 21:28

I vote Vincent!

If not:

Jonathan
David
Andrew
Lewis

James is a gorgeous name!!

I'm always confused when people worry about it being shortened to Jim/Jimmy. It's always a real concern on here that doesn't ever happen in RL unless the parents or child want him to be called Jim.

My brother is James and is never Jamie, Jim, Jimmy or anything apart from James. It's a one syllable name, no need to shorten it!!
