What do you think of this for a girls name? :) And what else might I like?

It's something to think about, as I was teased about my name but I do think that was as much to do with the type of school than anything else - again the outrage I wasn't called Claire or Rebecca like everybody else.

But I have honestly, seriously only ever heard 'spreads easily' on here!

I also like Jessica, but it's very popular, and Madeline and Harriet.

I hear what you're saying op re "spreads easily" but surely the point is other people have obviously heard the term?

Gobbolino6 · 19/01/2016 09:45

I love Flora.

thankthoseluckystars · 19/01/2016 11:08

Is spreads easily really that terrible though? Grin I'm not sure it is. Most of us are over 20 I imagine or double that so is it going to be that well known in years to come?

I think it's lovely.

Can't believe someone upthread said intestinal "flora". FFS

nellyflora · 19/01/2016 12:46

I love the name flora and had wanted it for DD but was vetoed by DH. Flora spread and being a medical family where it has a different meaning meant I just couldn't use it 😥.

TheShapeJaper · 19/01/2016 12:52

It is my daughter's name, so I obviously like it. We only ever have nice comments about it. I am pretty certain that margarine is on its way out now - the nasty stuff that it is. Butter eaters here.

JeanGenie23 · 19/01/2016 12:54

I like Flora but DP didn't so we went with something else.

I also liked
fleur,
wren,
robin,
olive (sticking with margarine theme Grin),
may,
rosa,
edith,
Jude,
Marie

I like it. Is on my list. Plenty of other names which have alternative meanings. Like Stella for example... Does she reach the parts others fail? The spreading tag is a bit tricky though.

Redsparklybucket · 19/01/2016 14:59

Love it! Have one myself! Other names we liked were

Esme
Lorna
Wren
Olive
Iris
Laurel
Lauren
Elouise
Hebe

But Flora was the favourite by a mile, I was worried about the teasing but loved the name so much and hope she grows up not to be worried by name calling. I had an unusual name in the 70's very common now and was the only one at a school of 1000+ pupils.

Strongly dislike Flora, sorry, how about Elodie, Alberta or Emmeline?

Harriet, I think you mentioned, is very nice.

Tactfulcactus · 19/01/2016 16:05

It's a very pretty name. Lovely. I'd choose it.

Missmonkey123 · 19/01/2016 16:08

ahh the playground taunt may be strong with this one! Its a nice name but strongly associated with other things....have a think
