Thoughts please..

I'm after a name that is not too unusual but at the same time not too popular.
Don't want Dd to be one of many at school or at work as I was, and still am.

I agree, it's a bit of a mean girl name.

DontKillMyVibe · 17/01/2016 10:48

Sorry but I too associate the name Jodie with the 80s/90s and think it's a bit tacky with mean girl associations.

Jodie Foster seems like she's alright though

Vixxfacee · 17/01/2016 15:16

Horrible.

smartyclogs · 17/01/2016 17:27

Each to their own.
I'm not keen on granny names and alot of names in the top 20 don't excite me.
I'm not in the UK, so people here don't know that Jodie was a popular name in the 80s/90s.
Tbh I was at school then and never met or knew a Jodie!

Isn't it funny but I agree, the Jodies I know are a certain type of mean girl.

squoosh · 17/01/2016 17:34

The Jodie I know is lovely.

bimandbam · 17/01/2016 17:38

I am a Jodie!

Was born in the 70's though so a bit of a trendsetter according to this thread.

I am not a mean girl I don't think. But I do know a few other Jodie who are gobshites and one is a definite mean girl. But I know lots of other mean girls with different names so go figure. The meanest girl I have ever met was an Imogen!

PooDogMillionaire · 18/01/2016 22:34

Jodie's a little bit 80's/90's.

flohen · 18/01/2016 22:42

Another Jodie here, early 80s! Grin

I'm not very keen on my name, I always feel like it lets me down when I'm introducing myself to someone at work, that it has certain preconceived connotations.

Both of my dc have 'granny chic' names as I wanted something far more classic which wouldn't pigeon hole them.

My friend and I are the mean girl names mentioned above and we're both perfectly nice people!
I like Jodie.
I like Joni more though.

Pixa · 18/01/2016 22:52

I know a couple of women named Jodie and they're both lovely! I would never have associated it with a 'mean girl' attitude. I think it's a lovely name OP.

IcecreamBus · 18/01/2016 22:55

I like Jodie. All the Jodies/Jodys I've ever met have been lovely, and while it's still a well known name, she won't be one of 10 of the same name in her class at school.

y0rkier0se · 18/01/2016 22:56

Ah love Joni as a pp suggested!

PennyHasNoSurname · 18/01/2016 22:57

Im not a fan, I prefer Zoey/Zoe (which I think is similar) or Naomi

PennyHasNoSurname · 18/01/2016 22:58

What about Jenna?

justjodie92 · 18/01/2016 23:08

I'm a Jodie! And definitely not a mean girl.
Go for it, I've always really liked my name Smile

PinkFairy22 · 19/01/2016 13:38

Hmm, not keen sorry
