Hunter?

My husband has suggested the name Hunter for DS3. I think it goes well with our surname, but not 100% sure that I like it.

I have named our other boys so it is his turn and so far he likes Bruno and Hunter.

Any thoughts?

Bruno is a million times better IMO

FunkyPeacock · 15/01/2016 16:45

X-post with Tiggery - totally agree, I'm not a massive fan of Bruno either but I much prefer it to Hunter!

MitzyLeFrouf · 15/01/2016 16:46

I can imagine hunter working as a name in Australia. It has a very Ramsay Street/Summer Bay vibe.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 15/01/2016 16:49

I have friends whose surname is Hunter. The DH wanted to leave DS's name just as Hunter and not bother with another nameShock

HeadDreamer · 15/01/2016 16:52

oldandcrabby I'm sure they don't do wellies in Oz. I'm a kiwi and we call them gum boots Grin

There are no hunter wellies as far as I know.

MitzyLeFrouf · 15/01/2016 16:55

Oh my word MrsLeighHalfpenny what an idiot!

edengarden123 · 15/01/2016 18:58

I love the name Hunter its one of my ds's middle name. Think its a real strong name. I don't like Bruno at all.

TheOldestCat · 15/01/2016 19:06

Not keen but it's our surname!

I am not MrsLeighHalfpenny's friend though, honest.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 15/01/2016 19:34

DH has English parents but migrated to NZ as a child. He's saddled with a name girl's name in NZ. It's a very popular boy's name here in the UK in the 70s.

Is the name Ashley? My NDNs moved to the US with their 4yo DS called Ashley. When they visited again their DS was 10 and he was known as Logan. He had been teased for having a girls' name.

I love Hunter btw.

The gladiator is who I thought of too fighterpilotsthumbs haha

CuriousCarrot · 15/01/2016 23:07

I think it you would need to be a certain 'type' to pull it off IMO.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 16/01/2016 00:07

What if you called your DS Hunter and he grew up a seven stone, anti-hunt protester?
That would be ironic!

ShmooBooMoo · 16/01/2016 00:14

I hate it... Silly American name imho.

ShmooBooMoo · 16/01/2016 00:17

Also, sorry but the only Bruno I've met was a dog. What are your other boys called?

GiveMeVegemite · 16/01/2016 05:43

Yep, they are gum boots here too. I haven't seen Hunter wellies in Oz so far!

Imagining my unborn baby as a 7 stone PETA type activist is quite unnerving, but thanks for the visual MrsLeigh

My other sons are called Ellis and Jasper....

Any other suggestions that you think could go well with the other names if not Bruno and Hunter??

I don't think hunter goes with jasper. Bruno goes better

Fixinggood · 16/01/2016 08:11

I like hunter. Names that I think are similar are Carter, cooper, Jackson?

But when I seen Ellis and jasper I immediately thought Noah.

PixieChops · 16/01/2016 08:41

Like I said I really like the name Hunter and it was on our shortlist. I also liked the name Jensen which may go nicely with your other children's names.
Don't listen to us though, for one you're in Aus so people are more open there and 2. He's your baby, call him whatever you damn well please!

GiveMeVegemite · 16/01/2016 09:13

pixie thanks!! And I will. Hunter it is!!!!
