Is Clara too popular?

Really don't want to pick a name that suddenly becomes really trendy like Sofia or Florence
I have always loved Clara but it's mentioned a lot on here ?
Is it too popular ?

I don't know any young Claras but the name is often mentioned on MN.

I like Annabel and Megan.

Clara is also the name of the current Dr Who 'sidekick'

They've got rid of Clara from Doctor Who now.

I only know one little Clara, but, yes, I expect it will jump in popularity given its recent rise. Having said that, it will presumably take a while to do so, so a girl named Clara this year is unlikely to meet many others in her year at school/uni.

I don't know any little Megans, although a few 6/7 year olds. It seems to be dropping very fast down the lists, and,as someone above said, unlikely to suddenly jump up again. I think you can be pretty confident that it has peaked and will continue to fall.

So Flora and Megan are probably your best bets if you want to avoid the name becoming increasingly popular over the next few years.

I have a Clara (age 7) and one of my best friends has an age 10 Clara (we didn't know each other when my DD was born). We have met one other in the next town. So not hugely common, but definitely growing in popularity for new babies.

Why is Clara making me think of Heidi? Was there a girl who was poorly or couldn't walk or something called Clara in the story?
