I'm not keen... Madeleine is much nicer for some reason!

Never been keen on Madeleine! I just think it's because of all the pronunciation troubles... Confused

Have heard it screamed across numerous playgrounds and soft plays, which makes me less keen. Also makes me think of the 1980s mermaid film with Darryl Hannah, Madison was her name.

I remember first hearing of a baby named this in the mid/late nineties, named after the mermaid and I thought it was lovely and unusual and unique. There are loads now though.

I love Madeleine and don't think you'd have any issues with pronunciation - I think there is only one way to say it isn't there?

turtlepink · 07/01/2016 08:53

Well, I think people will spell it Madeline for a start, they could also pronounce it Mad - eh - line or Mad - eh - lyn or Mad - eh - lehn... Loads of pronunciations

Is this LoulouWakeman again...? Hmm www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/2520049-Madilyn-or-Madison

If you like Madison, use it for your child. There will always be someone who doesn't like your choice.

turtlepink · 07/01/2016 09:15

No?

Reminds me of a nightclub name

KoalaDownUnder · 07/01/2016 14:05

No. Totally 1990's and a bit tacky.

I think it's dreadful. But it's up to you in the end.
