Probably be something they'd pick up on, yes.
But if kids are going to tease they'll go for anything - weight, glasses, schoolwork, clothes, hair, schoolbag. You name it, they'll tease about it.

YouStillLookLikeAMovie · 02/01/2016 17:31

I doubt it particularly

BikeRunSki · 02/01/2016 17:32

Every young William I know, without exception, is called Will. That's about 5 boys under 10. The older Williams I know are Bill. That's about 3 men in their 60-80s.

I agree, that if a child is going to tease or be teased, then the trigger could be anything.

Greenteandchives · 02/01/2016 17:34

I have a William. He says he has never been teased about his name. He is always known as Will.

PotteringAlong · 02/01/2016 17:35

I have a William. He is known universally as William. Not will, not bill, not willie. Not a problem!

Cookiesandcoffee · 02/01/2016 19:01

I don't think it would be a problem at all, I think it's a lovely name and would definitely go with it!

BettyBi0 · 02/01/2016 19:26

Probably a couple of times when he's 5 but I'm sure but they time he is 6 or 7 he'll just be called Will

Nataleejah · 03/01/2016 18:03

Sometimes.

MyCatIsBayleigh · 03/01/2016 18:05

I don't think he would be teased... I grew up with a William and he was always Will, no one ever said Willy (or teased him with it) :)

FrostyNipples · 03/01/2016 18:06

Unless you are short.

I know a fella called big Willie.

Not sure he's bothered though (he's 5' tall)

MagicAlwaysLeadsToTrouble · 03/01/2016 22:40

Nope. My DH is William and reports never being called Willie or teased about his name.

TwllBach · 03/01/2016 22:42

I work in a school and all the Williams I have ever taught have always been Will and never been teased Smile I love the name and it was on my short list until I realised it doesn't work with DPs surname

madmotherof2 · 03/01/2016 22:53

I have a William. His main nickname is Wills but he also replies to Will, Willso, Willy wonka, Willy wonks plinky plonks. All family nicknames
