I'm not pregnant but be decided it's my name of choice if I ever conceive another girl

My DCs are Padraig, Jacinta, Xavier and Romilly.

Am I right to earmark Ariel for future usage?

The Ariel in The Tempest is male.

I know an Ariel and she's definitely named after the mermaid. Everyone was a bit when she was born but now it's just her name.

Ariela/Ariella is a real name. It's just the hebrew feminine of ariel (which is a hebrew name)

I always read Ariel as androgynous and historically the part has been assumed by both miles and females, so....

I don't think I could name a boy Ariel, I'm not keen on Arielle/Ariella so for the foreseeable im earmarking Ariel as my future daughter's name. Thanks for all help and opinions

I don't know anybody called Miles as it happens.

I like it. Defo makes me think of the little mermaid but that's not a bad association.

I think of Sylvia Plath's poems, they're beautiful but dark so I might not want to give that name to a child. Also, Little Mermaid references on here indicate what she might face in her life. It's a gorgeous name though

I think Ariel is a lovely name which has been ruined by Disney and proctor and gamble.

It just makes me think of Ariel Sharon.
