Joseph, Joshua or Charles ("Charlie")

MrsMichelRouxJr · 22/12/2015 16:47

DS is due any day now and DH and I are still undecided on a name!!

Names we love but can't use:

James
Noah
William
Oliver
Henry
Jack

Our current short list is

Joseph
Joshua
Charles (but only on BC - day to day he'd be Charlie).

Any thoughts or other suggestions?

DD is Naomi. Surname begins with W.

Thank you!

I love Joseph, each one of my 3 dds was going to be one Grin. I quite like Joshua too, I really am not a fan of Charlie - I just don't like it- no rhyme or reason.

Joseph or Joshua.

kelda · 22/12/2015 19:09

Joseph is very seasonal. Is that a good or bad thing? Apart from that, all nice names.

sidsgranny · 22/12/2015 19:10

Joseph (Joe) most certainly! Don't like Joshua due to the fact the one i know is a little shit. Like Charles too. Hope all goes well and that you're home with your new little one for Xmas day!

timelytess · 22/12/2015 19:10

All superb. Absolutely superb. You're a winner.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/12/2015 19:12

All nice. I love Joe.

thelaundryfairy · 22/12/2015 19:12

I like Joseph best. Not a huge fan of Charlie, sorry, (although I teach a Charlie who is wonderful!)

Hulababy · 22/12/2015 19:16

I really like Joseph - I don't think it is a seasonal name really; I certainly don't think of it being so whenever I hear the name through your the year.

I like Charlie too.

HeffalumpTrap · 22/12/2015 19:17

Love Joshua!

ashesandfire · 22/12/2015 20:13

Joshua
I like Charles and Joseph but not a fan of the inevitable Charlie/Joe (y)
I like Joshua a lot and Josh/Joss as nn

CPtart · 22/12/2015 20:25

Joseph or Joshua.
Definitely not Charlie.

Borninthe60s · 22/12/2015 20:45

Which NN doe you prefer? Joe (could be m/f). Josh or Charlie? Or choose a name like your daughters which is difficult to shorten!

Sophronia · 22/12/2015 21:40

Joseph is my favourite of the three, with either Joe or Joss as a nn.

jamtartandcustard · 23/12/2015 02:46

Joseph! It's my ds's name so I'm biased but be warned he is always being called Joshua as that was in the top 5 boys names the year he was born!

areyoubeingserviced · 23/12/2015 03:04

Deffo Joseph
Like Charles, but not Charlie

mrsb83 · 23/12/2015 03:15

Joseph definitely!

BoxofSnails · 23/12/2015 03:20

Like them all (and Naomi too) - DH is expecting his first grandchild who we've already been told will be Joseph so I'm maybe a bit biased... I would probably go for Joshua as it's been a favourite of mine for some time.
Hope he has a safe arrival and congratulations Flowers

LeaLeander · 23/12/2015 03:24

Joseph.

Josh or Joshua seems like it would be more difficult to pronounce ahead of a W surname.

Hi, I'm Joseph Williams. fine
Hi, I'm Joshua Williams. Tongue rather tangles. Plus Josh sounds country bumpkin or lumberjack somehow.

Speederman · 23/12/2015 04:42

Joseph

We got loads of compliments for it Wink

And to my surprise no one calls him Joe (yet) as it doesn't suit him.

mamaduckbone · 23/12/2015 04:47

Another vote for Joseph, as long as you don't mind Joe - my ds is now 100% Joe at school which I'm not too happy about but it was inevitable I guess.

DeepBlueLake · 23/12/2015 06:02

Joseph for sure and it goes nicely with Naomi, Joey is quite a cute nickname.

Charlie is ok.

Not keen on Joshua, been done to death in the last 15-20 years.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 23/12/2015 06:41

Have an irrational dislike of Joshua. Love Joseph and not all names get shortened I have a Daniel and no one has called him Dan yet and he is 8! So he won't necessarily get called Joe.

Jw35 · 23/12/2015 06:49

Joshua

pilates · 23/12/2015 08:59
