Hi what do people think of the name Vincent? Vinnie for short? We quite like it as it isn't very common.

Love it! I wanted it for ds2 but it's a dd.

ExBallerina · 20/12/2015 20:23

I just met a Vincent, Vinnie, he was 6. I like it/him

Sammy1888 · 20/12/2015 20:23

Love the NN Vinnie!

Wishfulmakeupping · 20/12/2015 20:24

I really liked it but dh vetoed like Victor also

B33rTricksPott3r · 20/12/2015 20:24

Don't think it's come round to fashion again. Still a bit Spiv.

Mouthfulofquiz · 20/12/2015 20:26

I know a little Vincent - I'm less keen on Vinnie than Vincent. But I think it's a really really good name.

It was my no. 1 choice - but turned out to be DD! Love it and you rarely hear it.

Sophronia · 20/12/2015 20:29

Good name, would like to hear of it being used.

Yika · 20/12/2015 20:31

I know a little Vincent. I don't love it but it suits him. I don't like Vinnie.

BonesyBones · 20/12/2015 20:31

I love it! Was desperate to use it for my DS2 but DP said no. Sad it's a lovely name

MrsTatum1980 · 20/12/2015 20:37

I like it as I currently don't know any (and I'm a teacher!) so that's a real positive as I like original names but I have previously taught one and he was absolutely lovely (yes I know I shouldn't judge on sole basis of names but I can't help it!) Grin

parrotonmyshoulder · 20/12/2015 20:41

I would want it just for the Don McLean song which is so beautiful. DH's friend is Vincent so we felt we couldn't use it.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/12/2015 20:42

Hate it.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 20/12/2015 21:23

Well it's already on my short list if I have a boy.

DickDewy · 20/12/2015 21:24

I imagine a little Vinnie to have slitty eyes and a buzz cut, and possibly an earring.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 20/12/2015 21:25

Like it! Has a nice sound. Prefer Vince to Vinnie.

WanderingTrolley1 · 20/12/2015 21:27

I love Vincent. Nickname Vinnie, I'm not so sure.

B33rTricksPott3r · 20/12/2015 21:28

'Slitty eyes' wtf?

DickDewy · 20/12/2015 21:31

I mean slitty eyes as in a mean sort of face.

MitzyLeFrouf · 20/12/2015 23:11

It makes me want to say 'Yo Vinnie' in a wise guy accent.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 20/12/2015 23:14

Well Vinnie Jones springs to mind straight away. Plus there is a Vinnie in the secondary school where I work and he is a bit naughty so not good connotations, Vinnie, for me.

I like Vincent. And Vince for short.

Naoko · 20/12/2015 23:18

I have a cousin Vincent. He is lovely! If shortened it's usually Vin. Only his sister calls him Vinnie :o

HelpfulChap · 20/12/2015 23:21

I like it.

Oswin · 20/12/2015 23:29

My nephews called Vincent. We all call him vinny. Its traditional for his dad's family for the first boy to be called vinny.
I always used to immediately think dark hair and eyes when I heard vinny, but our vinny has blonde hair blue eyes even though his dad and family are Jamaican.
