DP and I just can't agree! We have a very short list and even that we don't agree on!
Middle name is set at DP's dad passed away recently, but the initial is causing problems. Middle name 'A' surname 'T' so we would have;
FAT (Franklin nn Frankie)
RAT (Rufus nn??)
(Albert nn Bertie)

I love Bertie but DP hates it.
I like Franklin/Frankie but I can't possibly give him the initials FAT.
Rufus I like too but not sure about a nn, Roofie? Isn't that a date rape drug??

This poor baby will never have a name!

Any thoughts on the above conundrum or other suggestions we might like? Or even second middle name suggestions to break up the awkward initials?

The middle and surname is ...Anthony Talbot.
Brother is Edward nn Ted/ Teddy.

Thank you! Let's give this baby a name for Xmas Smile

Ooh congratulations :) Franklin is fictional DS2's name :) shame that it spells out FAT... Could you add a 2nd middle name?

Bertie/Albert not my taste at all (although Alberta is high up our list for a girl, go figure Confused).

Rufus is cute but makes me think of a dog, and nn Rufie is not good! Ru is cute though.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 18/12/2015 14:53

Sorry. My post is utterly pointless as you mentioned a 2nd middle name in your OP. I hate it when people don't RTFT Blush

Franklin Anthony James
Franklin Anthony Rufus!
Franklin Anthony George

BendydickCuminsnatch · 18/12/2015 14:55

Franklin Anthony Rufus T worse than FAT Grin

Oh god I'll just give up and back away quietly, sorry!

BikeRunSki · 18/12/2015 14:56

Could you put Anthony first? Even if he is known as Frankie?
Anthony Franklin Talbot?

Or add another middle name to break up the initials:

Franklin Anthony Rufus Talbot?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/12/2015 14:56

Rufus. Really lovely name. But break up RAT with another middle name.

BikeRunSki · 18/12/2015 14:56

Sorry, no FART no good, ignore me! Blush

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/12/2015 14:57

I think I'd rather be FAT than FART.

cherrylola · 18/12/2015 15:01

Haha! Yes, FART isn't going to cut it Grin.

Love Ru as a nn and think DP is coming round to Rufus, why the hell have I only been able to think of Roofie??

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/12/2015 15:03

Roofie Xmas Grin. Would be cute on a tiny baby though.

squoosh · 18/12/2015 15:07

Rufus is great.

JE1234 · 18/12/2015 15:08

I have a DN who is Rufus and is now 10. I just asked my DSis and she said he's never been called Roofie. Generally just shortened to Ru or Roof but most stick to Rufus.

cherrylola · 18/12/2015 15:09

I did consider putting Anthony as a first name but I fear it would get adopted by school / officials etc and become his 'proper' name and as much as I'm happy to honour FiL I don't like the name itselfConfused

Borninthe60s · 18/12/2015 15:11

Put another middle name in there X

Allalonenow · 18/12/2015 15:12

Rufus is my favourite, and as it's quite a short name it shouldn't need a nn.

cherrylola · 18/12/2015 15:13

JE1234 that's really good to know, thanks!

Ok, so any suggestions for second middle name for Rufus Anthony Talbot??

OP posts:
cherrylola · 18/12/2015 15:14

Bendy, I actually don't mind if it makes people think of a dog, my other son is Teddy afterall Grin

squoosh · 18/12/2015 15:15

Rufus Anthony John Talbot sounds quite distinguished.

Or James. Something with one syllable.

sooperdooper · 18/12/2015 15:17

Rufus is my favourite and there's no need whatsoever to have to know what a nn would be right now, that evolves through time so doesn't need worrying about

I don't think the initials are that bad, just me though!

cherrylola · 18/12/2015 15:18

DP's family have a history of dodgy initials, even he is BLT! His sister is Jenny nn by DP of Jenny-Talls Blush. Luckily she took her husbands surname when she got married!

Footle · 18/12/2015 15:19

Hope he's redheaded so you can call him Red for short.

JE1234 · 18/12/2015 15:20

Rufus Anthony Bertie Talbot
Rufus Anthony Charlie Talbot
Rufus Anthony Harry Talbot
Rufus Anthony George Talbot
Rufus Anthony Frankie Talbot

All ace IMO!

cherrylola · 18/12/2015 15:20

Red and Ted Grin. He is 4 days old and currently dark haired but so was his brother who is white blonde now so god knows what he will end up! I was red haired when I was born but went blonde, DP has always been dark

OP posts:
JE1234 · 18/12/2015 15:22

Red and Ted is the cutest name combo!

5madthings · 18/12/2015 15:25

Love Rufus it was almost ds4's name, we went with rudi Instead.

I like Franklin as well.

I would go with Rufus and add in Franklin as another middle name but fiddle about with the order if you are worried re initials, in reality middle names don't come up often enough for initials to be a problem I don't think.

Congratulations :)

poocatcherchampion · 18/12/2015 15:29

Do red and ted!!!
