Mabel or Merryn?

Which name do you prefer?

Not sure on the spelling for Merryn though...
Merryn / Maren? Any other suggestions.

Merryn would be to honour a Mary (at a stretch a Margaret as well ;)

Does it change to go with siblings Charlie and Tilly?

Merryn

Merryn all the way classic Cornish name. Mabel is for hamsters and 1920s flappers

We've got a Merryn. She gets Mirren a lot despite telling people how to say it. We also get a lot of 'ooooh is it Welsh'?

Still love it though.

Merryn. I'm not keen on all these Granny-chic names, they went out of fashion for a reason! Mabel is one of the better ones but that's the best I can say for it!

weeblue how old I'd your Merryn? Mine just turned five and when she was a bit younger and I would introduce her at toddlers etc I got mirren /marriam etc but it hasn't happened for ages now and people only needed to be corrected the once. I do also hear is it Welsh and I say nope cornish!

But everyone is overwhelmingly positive about her name and I do love it. It's unusual but not wierd iykwim and it suits dd to a t. We call her Merryn mouse as well. We really struggle with girls names and now we are due baby 6 Sex unknown and I cannot find a girls name I like as much as Merryn. The oldest four are boys, so you would think we would be running out of boys names but no I can think of lots of boys names and we have a boys shortlist but really struggling with girls names.

Mabel is absolutely terrible.
I feel so sorry for these poor little girls with old biddy names, don't do it.

Merryn is quite nice, but anything is better a granny name.

Phyllis , Beryl, Mabel, June and Olive are my grandmother's cousins, all knocking on 90 now.
