I can't decide between the name Zoey or Aurora. Please help me to decide.

If I had a third DD I would have Aurora. Such a beautiful name... I'm jealous.

mummy2twobabies · 14/12/2015 18:14

I think aurora maybe the name I'm now leaning towards now as I don't really like Zoey without the y and really take everyone's point about having to spell it all the time. Just got to talk to family around now. Thank you for everyone's opinions.

Still prefer Zoe, I just don't like the way Aurora sounds but maybe its just my accent, even worse if she can't pronounce her "r"s.

I take it family aren't keen?

Are you interested in other suggestions along the smae line or is it just down to these two?

KatOnATinRo0f · 14/12/2015 18:19

Love aurora. A lot!!!!!

mummy2twobabies · 14/12/2015 18:32

I'm open to suggestions. This is a baby I was told I couldn't have and will be my last as I've been advised to not have anymore so I really want to get it right.

Aww - you definitely need the right name then :)

What about Carys which has a beautiful meaning (beloved or precious friend)

Amarys/Amaris which is similar to Aurora
Kezia/Keziah similar to Zoe
Zara/Zarah similar to Zoe
Xanthe similar to Zoe

Icklepickle101 · 14/12/2015 18:54

Zoe I'm not biased Grin

I agree with no Y especially if you have an unusual surname

Icklepickle101 · 14/12/2015 18:56

Saying that, Aurora was top of my list for the DC I'm currently expecting but I went off it after a few weeks, not sure why.

We decided on Thea

IamSantaClaus · 14/12/2015 19:07

Zoey . With or without the y , I like both.

KERALA1 · 14/12/2015 19:08

Both nice

tuilamum · 15/12/2015 10:28

I like the name Rory as a name, doesn't have to be a nn... Saying that I like Aurora too
I don't think Zoey would be too bad. It's not an unheard of spelling but she will probably grow up saying her name to people as "Zoey with a y" so it's up to you if that would be acceptable given your surname

That reminds me of the Starbucks thing on Facebook where someone posted a picture of the writing on their cup after telling the barista that it was "Marc with a C" the cup said "Cark."

An old work colleague named her baby Aurora and I remember everyone in the office being a bit Hmm Someone said 'that's a very big name' and I think I agree with that. I like Zoe but not a fan of 'unusual' spellings.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 15/12/2015 11:20

Aurora's lovely but doesn't travel well (I ended up living abroad and my kids are bilingual, so this always enters into my considerations). Zoe is lovely too, and very classy, but please with no y.

IguanaTail · 16/12/2015 06:25

Aurora not the best name if your child has a problem saying the letter 'r'. My friend Rob has to introduce himself as Wob all the time. Not cool when you're in your 40s.
